I'm sorry but you can not say the 540 bytes of machine learning used by amiibo characters in Super Smash Bros to better learn whether a move will hit allows people to do the exact same thing as smart glasses which provide a textual description of complex outdoor scenes for sight impaired people

@fireh9lly.bsky.social oh for sure but that was also thanks to folks like Be My Eyes seeing what was possible and presenting a plan to Meta to make that happen. Most of the work has been led by them and less internally at Meta from what I know
@fireh9lly.bsky.social I mean to be clear, I have huge concerns about ai becoming a shortcut or catch all for actual accessibility but also need to be honest that there have been really cool solutions that would only be possible thanks to generative AI that I appreciate in my day to day life.
@joannablackhart.com I mean the actual interpretation of the visual data is done by llms though depending on the individual system they are using GPT and Gemenai primarily
@joannablackhart.com @drewking.dev as a totally blind person who also works in accessibility I have to disagree with you here. AI is certainly problematic, but there are amazing inovations that that are the direct result of combining ai and computer vision.
@katmabu.bsky.social @bencollins.bsky.social Folks who I otherwise agree on it are like all AI things are bad and terrible, and shold be mocked. While of course I agree that a lot of what it's being used for is harmful, it's also doing amazing stuff for some folks. 2/2
@katmabu.bsky.social @bencollins.bsky.social I love this take. I often try to figure out how to engage in conversations with folks on the left about AI productively. As a blind person there are uses for AI which have totally redefined what access can be, and all to often I find that many folks 1/2
The plan to demonize creativity, the arts and entrepreneurship while simultaneously shoving AI products down our throats that seemingly make 99% of things worse isn't going to work. We need the robots do the laundry while the people make stuff robots can't dream of. That's a good future.
Thank you to the night shift for your incredible work, tonight and every night.
Did…the Trump regime lowkey threaten to kill the pope?
A post from Scott Galloway that says: I feel, in my bones, around 7:59 PM a deal will be announced. And by “deal.” I mean something that does not exist. He thinks he’s playing chess, but he’s eating the pieces.
Called it.
A joint FBI/CISA/NSA advisory warns that Iranian-affiliated APT actors are actively exploiting internet-facing PLCs across U.S. critical infrastructure, including energy, using remote access and common OT protocols to manipulate SCADA/HMI data and disrupt operations.

The White House Correspondents Association is planning to "honor" Trump at its dinner three weeks from now.
No way.
It was egregious before. Now it's obscene.
Being an American is absolutely mortifying. I am so sorry we live in a country of morons, racists, misogynists and bigots who voted for this man. I don’t know what to do. We screamed for a decade about Trump being an unhinged psychopath and they did not listen.
@shanembailey.com @teaberryblue.net I was actually struck by this exactly in a conversation with a trans friend yesterday, how the experiences from her youth were so similar to the naritive of the first HP book
‘mid’ is a great concept man. the guy isn’t hot or ugly he’s mid. the food there isn’t bad it’s just mid. ‘average’ could never hope to be so dismissive. you’re so perfectly, dully medium-grade that you don’t even warrant more than three letters
Please unfollow me if you are a transphobe or TERF or “just asking questions.”
All human beings deserve the same rights. Nobody should be afraid they are going to get beat up or ridiculed or fired based on their gender identity.

Black text on white background “As James 2:14 reminds us, “faith without works is dead.” That message calls on all of us to build a better city. A New York where dignity is not a privilege, but a promise. Where government shows up for people with respect. Where faith is nurtured by justice, and freedom is abundant. Wishing a blessed Palm Sunday to all New Yorkers observing this sacred day.”
@jonnyswagger.bsky.social shoot it over!
The messaging, the presentation are so incredibly on point.
At this point I don't wonder how much insider trading is going on. I wonder how much policy is being made with the purpose of insider trading on it.
@mollycrabapple.bsky.social Hey there. wanted to shoot a mention here that I sent a note by email about our little zine library at Bar Freda in Ridgewood, as I wasn't totally sure how to message on here!
Should note: I'm joking above, but Chuck Norris genuinely was a trash human and deserves to be clowned on in death. Dude should be remembered as an asshole and a joke, and nothing more
So #Outlook on #Windows has fully shit the bed regarding Google conectivity leaving me screwed as far as email, as I have about 7 Google business accounts which I manage daily, and have been relying on Outlook for years. I am deeply displeased with #thunderbird. Any thoughts or suggestions? #a11y
Every single post I see with the "you can't just ban someone from an event on vibes" just reminds how most of y'all have never had to be responsible for the safety of Every. Single. Person. In. Attendance.

29 years ago today, Toonami, an afternoon block that helped change the media landscape, legitimized an entire industry, and inspired so many viewers, artists, writers, designers, and at least one Oscar-winning actor, premiered on Cartoon Network on March 17, 1997.

Some days the hardest part is putting on pants and leaving the bedroom.
@nemalki.bsky.social I'll forever miss Peter Cullen's promos. The current promo voice tries to hit it but constantly falls short.
@nemalki.bsky.social the much better telling of Firefly for sure
US taxpayers will now have to pay $700 million a month in interest for every month Trump refuses to refund tariffs under the Supreme Court ruling. So much winning.
