What happens when a museum decides it's just an "organization"?
Do you know much about hard drive manufacturing?
Even worse: You can travel from Newark to Newark, it will take roughly 2 hours, and you'll never enter New York. Thanks a lot, Delaware!
old georgetown road. used to be a flexpost at every stripe
idk maryland state highway administration maybe there is a solution that isn't "destroy $26k in flexposts every time you need to plow old georgetown road"
“I hereby pledge myself—my person and body—to the nonviolent movement, therefore I will keep the following ten commandments!” 1. MEDITATE daily on the teachings and life of Jesus. 2. REMEMBER always that the nonviolent movement in Birmingham seeks justice and reconciliation—not victory. 3. WALK and TALK in the manner of love, for God is love. 4. PRAY daily to be used by God in order that all men might be free. 5. SACRIFICE personal wishes in order that all men might be free. 6. OBSERVE with both friend and foe the ordinary rules of courtesy. 7. SEEK to perform regular service for others and for the world. 8. REFRAIN from the violence of fist, tongue, or heart. 9. STRIVE to be in good spiritual and bodily health. 10. FOLLOW the directions of the movement and of the captain on a demonstration.
Whoa. I'm just going to stare at this for the next hour.

Assume Quinn is right that it's more efficient to have multiple people specialize in a portion of one reporter's job.
He is saying making reporting into a game of telephone — with an AI hallucination machine added in to several steps on the way — will produce higher quality, accurate reporting.
Need to put some of these underneath
this is basically my takeaway from reading City Power: focus on delivering good services and making people’s lives better and your economy will grow. DC has invested in this over the past 20 years and MoCo, tbh, has been coasting
for decades Montgomery County’s growth came, in part, from upwardly mobile families in DC moving there. that hasn’t been the case for a while: DC’s property taxes are lower, commutes are shorter, new homes are being built, there’s more to do— dclocal.substack.com/p/how-and-wh...
Am I going to be the only one to suggest that firing a public school teacher for speaking out on a matter of public concern raises profound First Amendment issues, and we should pause before cheering on such actions when that power can be weaponized against progressive teachers in red places? 1/3
Even better: The Continuous Sidewalk.
Instead of forcing people to step down into the street, we make the cars step up into the pedestrian space. It prioritizes the person walking or rolling, keeps the path level for accessibility, and physically forces drivers to slow down.
Only on a Silver Spring parents listserv will you get "It's bar mitzvah planning time. Can anyone recommend a caterer for Ethiopian food?"

wake up homie, new culture war just dropped
Biden was the most economically progressive president since LBJ at least, he pursued a full-employment economy at huge political risk, it worked spectacularly.
And what happened is that the entire progressive universe decided that he must not have done any of it, or else he would have been popular
1/3 What Musk is really referring to here is, of course “race” - that construct that served to define the hierarchies of wealth & power structured by modern colonialism. Like other far right racists though, he uses the word “culture” as a seemingly less pernicious synonym.
An Instagram called frogandtoadstories. It posted an illustration from f&t with the text: "I have made a decision," said Toad. "Today I will not solve any problems."
This is not a genuine Frog and Toad quote.
In a secret deportation arrangement, the Trump administration flew nine people, nearly all of whom had been granted U.S. court protections from being sent back to their home countries, to Cameroon.

hello and welcome to the political genius exam. here is question one. which is a more compelling message:
- the president is sending armies to occupy cities and kidnap and kill people and your town could be next
- a meal at the cheesecake factory that previously cost $100 now costs $104.9
WE SHOULD LEARN TO SPEAK IN A LANGUAGE THAT RICH PEOPLE WHO DON'T DREAM CAN'T COMPREHEND.
Surely a comeback would require exterminating snakes from Guam

"Moderna's CEO announced the company will no longer invest in new Phase 3 vaccine trials for infectious diseases: 'You cannot make a return on investment if you don't have access to the U.S. market. Vaccines for Epstein-Barr virus, herpes, and shingles have been shelved.” 9:12 AM Feb 12, 2026 604.8K Views
In terms of what cures are being lost:
- Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis
- herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis
- shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease
When the subtitle is actually the headline:
“In an internal memo last year, Meta said the political tumult in the United States would distract critics from the feature’s release.”

Feb 17, 2023 tweet by Molly White: it's only a matter of time before a kid lets go of a mylar balloon at a birthday party and an F-22 comes roaring overhead to neutralize the threat
So the feds ARE NOT considering an mRNA vaccine for the flu, which could save countless lives, but ARE backing research into whether horse dewormer can cure cancer, because the right views vaccines as elite and ivermectin as populist.
Cool.
