Yeah, it’s still a thing.
😂 I’ve had South Islanders ask where I’m from, replied “Auckland”, they’ve proceeded to run city down, I’ve asked them how much time they’ve spent in Auckland …
0 days/ a couple of days has been the answer …
Wait till you hear what some say about Auckland …
(Joking aside - every “large” city has its bashers. I enjoy Wellington and also Auckland - my home town seems to be maligned by many that don’t know it)

Not quite. Australia, Canada, UK, USA and New Zealand.
😂 well OK then.
Likely talks at / lectures them rather than talks to them ...
😀 scroll up and down the linked thread for some "gems"
I'm no helicopter guy but I do know those are notorious!
I'm not surprised ...

WTF?
😂I'm also doing a Whangaparaoa to Hamilton return trip tomorrow ... likely to do it without recharging (I hope)
To be fair I spot kororā / Little Blue Penguins occasionally (Whangaparaoa) and an old acquaintance had penguins nesting under his house each season (Wellingtons south coast).
Yeah that's (at the very least) a horrendous waste of money.
I have very limited experience with public chargers but so far have managed to get ChargeNet, BP and Z to all work OK (only had the car since the Thursday before Easter but I had to tow a furniture trailer to Whangarei a week ago)
If anyone in New Zealand has an old phone book they are willing to give me, I need one.
It's for art purposes.
Absolutely incredible.
NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone.
Watch with sound on.
I chose my nomenclature deliberately ...
I suspect Aotearoa Bluesky is not a representative sample of New Zealand ...
😂 We're aware of Churchill and many of his quotes but less aware of American vaudeville performers.
From a safety perspective I wouldn’t plan to run out for anymore than 16 miles because I apply the principle of one-third out, one-third back and one third in reserve (to cover conditions turning to crap and other unforeseen things).
Boat efficiency can change a LOT when it gets rough.
Yeah, there is a bit of stuff to sort out!
This is exciting!
And I just had a look at the Arc website and they claim 50 mile range for the future Arc Coast. That's huge for an electric vessel. (getting closer to the 150 nautical mile range of my current trailer boat)

Yeah, the west coast is a fair bit less forgiving than the east.
Same here. Although threads I start tend not to be the sort where folks from elsewhere assume they are the main characters
In classic kiwi fashion one of the guys we pulled from the water dropped a dozen beer off at the Coastguard shed (we were still there cleaning the boat up, debriefing etc.)
This ...
(Two people are alive today because we were able to get to them quickly)

Yeah - I'm blocked now.
All I said was "we shouldn't have to put our country in posts"
True
Saturday's clients had PFDs and a mobile. They were reported overdue by others in their group and also used the mobile to call 111 (before it went flat). A handheld VHF and/or PLB would have made finding them easier (flares too)
