you can make the last of us or (new) god of war into tv shows or movies because they are linear stories with no means of taking advantage of their base medium so translating the text is easy. With games made to be told AS games that adaptation gets so much trickier and requires BIG swings

video games replacing comics as the hot IP for big execs to snatch up isn't surprising by any means but it sure sucks!

there just isn't a universe where this, the elden ring movie or the zelda movie are going to be interesting. Those three games specifically are beloved for their unique approach to story telling that can only be done through the games medium, stripping that aspect away is going to make them dulled
