Even board: Previewing the Oilers series against the Ducks The Edmonton Oilers open their post-season on Monday night against the Anaheim Ducks and have a good chance of doing some damage at least in the first two rounds. None of the teams in the Pacific w…

Managing the Oilers penalty kill when Henrique was unavailable Quick follow up to an article I wrote a few weeks ago when I looked into Adam Henrique’s struggles this season. I had found that while his even-strength numbers and overall productivity have …

Some day I'll stop writing about Adam Henrique. Today is not that day.

Here's how the Edmonton Oilers coaching staff managed the penalty kill when their top forward on the pk was out. The results were dreadful.

It's funny, the people coming out to these were in the same boat. Get a wide range of skill levels and backgrounds, it's pretty cool.

Got hooked on it last year, it's great. Come out if you can.

How should the Oilers deploy their defensive pairings? As we near the 50-game mark of the 2025-26 NHL regular-season, the Edmonton Oilers rank second place in the Pacific Division. However, their overall performance certainly has significant room for improvement, particularly for the standards of a cup contender.  This season, the Oilers rank 23rd in the NHL in five-on-five goal differential, having been out‑scored…

I've been fascinated by the Henrique/Frederic WOWY this year

Lags in goals but break-even otherwise

Evaluating a depreciating asset: Checking in on Adam Henrique’s season Back in early September of 2025, I had identified Oilers veteran forward Adam Henrique as someone who could potentially see their ice time decrease to make room for some of the younger players. Thi…

Had expected Adam Henrique's 5v5 numbers to slide, and they have. But did not expect his penalty kill numbers to be better, which could be a problem for the Oilers now that's he's out for a while.

AI is making sports fans (and hockey writing) lazy and stupid Has Logan Cooley won the NHL's Art Ross Trophy? No. Does AI have much use for the retrieval of sports statistics? Let's find out.

AI does its best to mine information from credible sources. But what if those credible sources use AI, which is prone to errors? On that and more in my latest for @dailyfaceoff.bsky.social

I've been saying it for a while. Coach Knob is pushing the "beat Florida" system, but this team is not built for it. This is a speed & skill team playing dump and chase hockey. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that it was Gullys fault, but he's gone now and the problem is worse.

Sharing this not just because I’m mentioned by name but wanted to also give a glove tap to Oilfans.com which preceded the Oilogosphere. As early as 2000(!), I was meeting up with folks from there. And many, like me, would go on to contribute to that blogging world.

I was little more than a lurker and then commenter in the Oilogosphere. But I learned an absolute ton from the people in this thread & others, with surprising applicability to areas beyond hockey.

I was glad to be able to contribute to it a little bit in my own way.

I’d like to toot my own horn here, as well as that of my friends, by acknowledging that this month marks the 20th anniversary of the Oilogosphere. For those who don’t know, that’s the name given to the group of Edmonton Oilers bloggers who appeared after the 2005 NHL lockout. 🧵/1
