I’m in Iowa for the semester. Which is flying by. I head home mid-May! I’m being my most authentic self & encouraging my students to do the same. Iowa’s legislature literally legislated hate this week & yet over 2500 protestors showed up on Thursday, some of my students, because showing up matters.

People are understandably feeling scared as Trump unleashes his torrent of attacks on vulnerable populations. But some in the grassroots are fighting back, piece by piece. @rebeccaburns.bsky.social burns and I documented one such effort in Chicago disrupting Trump’s mass deportation plans.
Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.
