Chart showing Number (left panel) and proportion (right panel) of families that are eligible for means-tested benefits based on their income but lose some or all their entitlement due to the capital rules, by benefit type: GB, 2020-22
An estimated 2 million families in Britain have their social security entitlement reduced as a result of the capital rules in Universal Credit.
Of these, 830,000 families face a partial reduction, while 1.2 million families see their entitlement wiped out entirely.
I feel increasingly disconnected from the party I voted for and had such high hopes for.
Did we give them a mandate to cos-play Reform-lite?
I want them to lead and argue for their vision instead of chasing polls.
Oh and charge me more income tax instead of penalising kids & disabled people
JK Rowling posing like a smug supervillain on some yacht or villa balcony or something and gloating about the UK Supreme Court's anti-trans decision.
See the movies or don't, read your kids whatever you want, but this self-portrait of a gloating hatemonger is the identity she has chosen.
But sure, it’s fun to make a Barbie doll of yourself.
Absolutely dead at the line “Kaplan Mulholland is reluctant to move to Italy because the food is ‘full of carbs’”, and I don’t think there’s a violin small enough.
Good point, must buy new boots…
Can confirm, there is no better leader for this task. I’m right behind her 💪🏻

"Anti-migrant politics will not build a single house, staff a single hospital or raise anyone’s wages. Instead, by echoing its rhetoric, the government is simply fuelling the rise of Reform UK"
Well done to these Labour MPs, trade unionists, and members. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

a black pittie with a greying snoot sits on a street. he's wearing a blond, curly, shake and go wig. he looks off past the camera with an expression that indicates he has complete confidence in his disguise.
Bear the pittie is facing away from the camera, his entire head consumed by the blond wig. he stands next to two happy goldens who don't even notice anything strange.
Bear stands in the middle of a street next to a majestic golden retriever draped in a regency era cape. the golden is none the wiser to Bear's ruse, nor do any of the five people standing around on the street.
This is Bear. He disguised himself and snuck into a golden retriever gathering. Safe to say no one suspected a thing. 13/10
Always willing to assist.
We’ve been watching Wolf Hall, a fascinating study of how the fragile male ego of a fickle, greedy despot creates a culture of deep cruelty and mistrust, where everyone lives in fear of saying the wrong thing. Thank goodness we’ve moved on from those times.
It’s categorically worth the money to stay at a nice hotel even if you just factor in the high quality light you can see your chin hairs in 🤣
time for my annual reminder to not ask women to do public speaking or whatever else for your company for free for Women's History Month/International Women's Day, please and thank you
