Folks experiencing homelessness in the St. John's area, check with your local drop-in centre for hours of operation as some locations have expanded hours during this time.

Elaine spent the morning of July 16th with homeless serving staff sharing her knowledge of ways to support people who are experiencing hoarding. She also answered questions from the group and provided practical tips on approaches which have worked well in her practice.

Elaine Birchall is a Director at Birchall Consulting & Assoc. Inc, a Hoarding Behaviour and Intervention Specialist / Clutter Coach / Trainer and a Subject Area Expert on Hoarding Disorder. She authored Conquer the Clutter: Strategies to Identify, Manage and Overcome Hoarding.

We had an incredible time at the Pride Parade! It was an honour to walk in support of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and to stand up for inclusion, safety, and housing for all.

What this change in data represents is a better understanding of homelessness in St. John's as EHSJ and our partners continue to work towards ending homelessness.

You will notice a significant jump between March and April, but this is largely due to the addition of new data sources, rather than a surge in homelessness.

Since then, it’s grown into something remarkable — a supportive home for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

This presentation focused on the rapid growth of EHSJ over the past twelve months, in particular, managing creation and operation of Horizons at 106, a dedicated transitional housing initiative designed to serve up to 100 individuals in the community.

This week EHSJ Executive Director Doug Pawson and Senior Director of Community Investment Simone Lilly presented “Navigating Change: Balancing Risk, Growth, and Approaches to Housing Solutions” at the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association 2025 Congress in Saskatoon.

"There's not really any mention of homelessness programming and investments in any of the platforms," said Pawson.
