Has Trump killed #Brexit?
#TheJournal #Newcastle letter argues promise of a US-centric “Global Britain” hasn’t delivered - and rebuilding #EuropeanUnion ties now probably more stable, realistic path for #UKLabour #Starmer. Worth a read 👇 (And share if it resonates.)

Keir Starmer calls for a closer economic relationship with the EU: "Brexit did deep damage to the economy.

Letter headed “Rejoining the EU questions”, in the Sunderland Echo. The writer takes issues with claims by Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle that the UK is not ready for “a protracted rejoining debate”. It may be unnecessary – given mounting evidence of the harm Brexit is doing to Britain.

#Brexit - doesn't add up, does it? A @teessidelive.bsky.social letter highlights how one website uses dodgy numbers to mislead visitors into thinking #EuropeanUnion membership is too costly.
Truth is it would pay for itself. Many times over.

In today's Gazette! The writer says those who still support Brexit (Britain’s departure from the European Union) have used a number of ways previously to downplay the idea of rejoining. Among the latest is simply denying the truth of polls showing how unpopular Brexit is.

Brexiters who can’t agree whether #Brexit Britain is booming or bust need to get together and get their story straight, says this Sunderland Echo letter.
The truth, of course, is we were better off in the #EuropeanUnion. No-one questioned Nissan’s future then.

Are polls proving #Brexit unpopular 'fake news'? Or is saying so another lie from those frustrated at seeing public support fade away from their #BrexitShambles?
A letter in today's Journal points to strong #RejoinEU support, especially among young voters who didn't have a say in 2016.

Covid inquiry reaches ‘bittersweet’ final day of witness testimony Campaigners say ‘hard-hitting, clear-sighted and damning’ inquiry – the most expensive in history – ‘absolutely has been worth it’ * ‘A new normal’: inquiry’s key findings on how Covid changed UK society Bereaved families have marked the final day of witness testimony in the long-running Covid inquiry by saying government “incompetence, chaos and callousness is now on the public record”. Matt Fowler, co-founder of Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice UK (CBFFJ), urged officials to use the inquiry as a blueprint “to take brave, decisive, urgent action” and warned the country was still not prepared for a future crisis. All the #Brexit promises made by the Leave elite 10 years ago have been broken. As this letter in the Newcastle Chronicle today points out, supporters are now making up spurious - and often contradictory - excuses for staying out of the #EuropeanUnion.

...and again in the Gazette.... ten years on since David Cameron announced the referendum have you noticed how the language of Brexit is changing? No more talk of "sunlit uplands" that's for sure!

Wide agreement #Brexit has failed – even #Farage says so. But those behind our #EuropeanUnion departure aren’t yet ready accept blame.

As this Sunderland Echo letter explains, they need scapegoats. Ignore their fictions about ‘blobs’, ‘Remainers’, ‘traitors’ and ‘elites’. Let’s #RejoinEU instead!

🤢 FIVE WINNERS. MILLIONS LOSERS.

🚨Brexit beneficiaries:
Johnson - PM
Farage - fame
Putin - a weaker UK

So how do you think it's going?
This was the day NE workers like in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet no longer had the right to work in Germany nor 25 other EU countries (or vice versa). The huge brexit queues in the airport may have put them off anyway!

🚨An internal FBI counter-intelligence briefing flagged Britain’s failure to investigate Russian interference in Brexit.

This wasn’t gossip.
It was briefed to senior US law-enforcement officials.

The UK didn’t take it seriously.
Others did.
