I imagine there was an attempt at using the knife but the steak was too tough. It was fighting back ^^;

They'd rather not though since it takes up so much energy. Mote has two modes: calm or hungry. It absorbs snow or plants for additional nutrients, but is fully sustained by sunlight and water.
