Goodnight Ball Arena. It was fun, again. Time to go home
…That half a second where you’re disrupting the play, Jaden gets back in front, Rudy gets back in front. And then they make or miss.”
Donte DiVincenzo on being a team-high +20:
“Kinda just focussing on the little things. Loose balls. Getting my hands on stuff. Disrupting their rhythm of plays…
Donte DiVincenzo on Rudy Gobert:
“Rudy is our Defensive Player of the Year.”
“We have all the confidence in the world in him and we trust that matchup [with Jokić].”
Anthony Edwards on getting up and blocking shots:
“I just be watching Dwyane Wade clips. He was beating shit at the rim so I just be trying to beat shit at the rim.”
…And he came in there, and how he guarded Jokić in the end was a super inspiring to the team.”
Julius Rande on Rudy Gobert:
“I want to give a shoutout to Big Ru man. What he did tonight is not gonna show up in the boxscore but what he did in that fourth quarter, Ant challenged him. At the beginning of the fourth he said, ‘I need you to stop fouling…’
Anthony Edwards on Donte DiVincenzo:
“I love Donte. I told him after the game he’s got gorilla nuts.”
“When he took the three at the end today I was like ‘Ah Donte’ and then he made it I was like, ‘Let’s fucking go Donte.’”
Anthony Edwards on his Game 2 boxscore:
“Yeah that shit ass.”
Chris Finch on the criticism Rudy Gobert receives:
“It’s a joke that he wasn’t a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year.”
“He’s an outstanding defender. He’s an outstanding professional. He’s an outstanding person and is about the right things.”
…Again, our guys just fought him as best they could. Julius did a really great job in the second quarter on him.”
I asked Chris Finch about adjusting the rotation when Rudy Gobert got into foul trouble”
“You just gotta adjust and move on. We’ve got plenty of guys with experience who can play. Obviously [Jokić] is a load. You gotta make a decision whether you’re gonna double him or your not….
Chris Finch on Rudy Gobert defensively vs Jokić
“He was phenomenal. Surviving the foul trouble. Playing his defense before the catch. After the catch. Challenging everything. It’s hard as heck to guard those guys, there in every single action down.”
Chris Finch immediately rejected a post game question about officials quickly saying, “next question”
Wolves win 119-114. An unbelievably gutty Timberwovles win
2 giant free throws from Julius Rande
Braun splits the free throws. Wolves up 115-114 with 19.1 left. Gonna need to inbound and make some free throws
Unsuccessful challenge as there was "foot to knee contact"
Wolves will be in the bonus the last 7:19 of the game
Jokić has 14 points in the third quarter. With Gobert on the bench with foul trouble, the Wolves just don't have a good answer for him
Wolves close the first half on a 31-12 run after Rudy went to the bench, but give up an 8-0 run to close the half.
Somehow we are where we were at halftime of Game 1: tied
For the first time in this series, the real Anthony Edwards has shown up
I really hate how much the officiating has become the talk of this series. Up to you whose fault that is
Three fouls on Gobert. Will be interesting to see how the Wolves navigate this next 9:06 before halftime
The Wolves are clearly frustrated with the officiating. Maybe they have a point, maybe they don't, but at some point they have to just play through it cause this game and series are slipping away
10-0 run Denver. Wolves offense continues to look rough against a Nuggets defense that ranked 21st during the regular season
Game 2 starts here in about 10 minutes. Feels like a must win for the Wolves. Let’s see if they can do it
Chris Finch was asked pregame about the officiating in Game 1 and the embellishment of contact that happens during games.
