Yep. Pitches get stitches.

The final third of our big, #TTRPG -centric article about #Bioware 's #Anthem #videogame is up.
The whole thing is an illustrated mini-sourcebook. It discusses the world, the story, the technology, the factions, the power armours, the weapons, a sample character and their canon allies, etc..
And so at this point, I realise with a cold shiver of the soul that I have to write up Jerry Hunt. 😿
You couldn't pay me enough to do that. But since I'm not getting paid...
The previous round on Spider-Woman had covered the (meh, frankly) Wolfman/Infantino run.
Which means it's now time to write up minor characters to clear the way for a profile for her Gruenwald era.
And that's a pack of 8 late 1970s opponents of Black Canary done, which I'll finish publishing over the next few weeks.
(Captain Stingaree was the first, since she briefly fought him in Secret Society of Super-Villains).
Now switching to some Spider-Woman stuff. I need frequent changes of pace.
“In my name.”
I finished my most complex cosplay I've ever done! Reaper’s Embrace metal armor made in tandem in the forge, embroidery on velvet, crazy amount of details. Hundreds of hours have been spent on this project

Le bon côté c'est qu'ils mettent pas encore un lien sponsorisé pour qu'on puisse acheter les mêmes lunettes.
... and child abuse scandals, and generational issues around boomer bande dessinée auteurs, and rampant French misogyny and classism, etc..
We'd all prefer to live in the Bandette version. But we have to make do with the real-life version of France, alas.
It's complicated to explain due to cultural context. Dude is an interesting artist, and obvs he can draw/narrate whatever he wants.
But he became the Very Special Boy of elites that cause a lot of pain in the bande dessinée world, and well beyond in the country. Which hardened with Me Too...
Pattern of paedophilic material started grating after years, the old boys' club closed ranks around him and started harassing critics (with a strong focus on women), and everything kept spiraling down until the Angoulême Festival exploded over this. Plus numerous issues around misogyny and so on.
I also find it quite convenient.
I'd avoid Vivès, personally. For, you know, the reasons.
"Démocratisation". 🙄
Refurbished the first part of our character profile for DC #Comics' Signalman, a C-list (generously) #Batman enemy.
His career is kinda weird. So here we only cover his 1950s-ish appearances, for clarity.
Pictures, #TTRPG stats, skills, tricks, biography, signs, etc. - our symbolic usual.
Refurbished the character profile for James Marvel. He was part of one of our randomly-roll-up-a-character-and-make-up-everything-else contest.
Which is a fun activity if you're, like, hopelessly geeky.
This is something tech people don't grasp about nonfiction writing: the process of deep research, of deciding which little details are interesting or which obscure anecdotes have historical value, is all part of the creative work of writing. It's not grunt work. It can't just be automated.
Added a character profile for Ahnjayla (I know). This rogue Amazon fought #WonderWoman in the 1974 made-for-TV movie that was meant as the pilot for a series that never came.
So that's the Kathy Lee Crosby version of WW, and Ahnjayla was played by Anitra Ford.
I don't think these'll happen, because we'll run out of umlauts first.
I had completely forgotten about Boiling Point, I wonder if it's still playable.
We all use ShareX.
Except, y'know, that guy.
Refurbished the mini-character profile for Slud Jak, from Hostess #Comics adverts of the '70s. Mostly because I ran into a better scan of that ad.
These entries chiefly exist for shit and giggles. But if Kurt Busiek reused Icemaster, perhaps you can reuse Slud Jak.
Pix, #TTRPG stats, powers, etc.
Yeah, a Steve Englehart Black Canary and a Gerry Conway Black Canary coexisting during the late 1970s seems increasingly likely.
But I'll prolly run out of steam after writing up 8 or 9 or her opponents from that era, so full research will be delayed.
"We don't do it because it's easy, we do it because we *thought* it would be easy" remains one of my fav jokes.
Perhaps because of my deserved reputation for gloomily, dourly, morosely delivering wet-blanket workload estimates that turn out to be correct.
Maintenant je me demande c'est quoi un "succès brutal".
C'est quand après avoir gagné beaucoup d'argent tu sors dans la rue pour donner des coups de pied aux petits chiens et renverser les vieilles dames ?
The first time I saw that established with numbers was an old Bioware public presentation about Mass Effect player choices.
And I'd imagine that studios had telemetry about that years before those slides.
Brian Merchant est l'un des gros critiques de l'IA générative depuis des années. Une bonne partie de son travail est d'interviewer les gens qui sont impactés, tels que des artistes.
That it was co-written by Fraction was a clue. 😁
Refurbished our character profile for Marvel #Comics' Thunderstrike (Eric Masterson).
He was a sort of everyman #Thor -lite superhero, who was active during the 1990s.
Also added his #MutantsAndMasterminds #TTRPG stats.
Pictures, powers, bio, quotes, etc. - our totally addicted to mace usual.
