The traffic calming tools CDOT has are primarily geared toward mid-block locations rather than nearby an intersection. Federal guidelines typically preclude traffic calming implements near crosswalks and intersections. An exception is curb extensions, which are designed primarily to assist with pedestrians crossing in crosswalks. However, I doubt that curb extensions at the intersection of XXX and XXX would accomplish much by way of traffic calming, as vehicles have to at least slow down as they approach the intersection since they can't proceed westbound.l will check with CDOT to see if they can look into park related signs on XXX, but the research generally suggests that such signs have limited efficacy.

Update: I asked if we could circumvent the petition requirement given the park. His response:

He thinks I’ll meet significant pushback. But there’s a park (really just a playlot) at the end of our block and by the time drivers reach it, some are going well in excess of 25 mph, and they don’t stop at the stop sign either. 3/

His chief of staff responded that there was an unsuccessful petition for speed bumps on our block in 2022. Apparently after the petitioner was unable to gather enough signatures, they went to a contact at CDOT. CDOT went ahead and started the work, and people freaked out. 2/
