Day 2 of Year 10 drop-down. One group of students took part in a tower-building challenge. The winning team had a tower over 2m high! Great team work from everybody!

Today has also been Day 1 of Sixth Form drop-down for Year 10, giving them a taste of what life in the sixth form is like.
At lunchtime, the next round of the House chess tournament took place. The tension is starting to build as we enter the final heats.
It’s been a busy start to the week. First up, it’s Piano Week and we have been treated to some superb playing at break, lunch and after school.
We loved meeting our new Year 7 students today. They met their tutor, used the canteen and had a lesson to give them a taste of what’s to come in September. We look forward to seeing you all then!
Year 12 yesterday had a discussing on careers in construction with John Green MBE and discovering they're not what you might think!

Year 12 historians enjoyed a visit to Number 1 London today, deepening their knowledge of the Duke of Wellington and Napoleon.
For Cultural Dress Day, our best dressed form 8EG were treated to pizza at lunch, and the winners of our staff competition were Ms Dunne and Ms Simons who received a box of Japanese/Turkish snacks each.
In the mall we had surprise Indian dance and Salsa performances, along with some music. Lunchtime was host to an Afro-hair workshop.
The last day of culture week saw students and staff dressed in cultural outfits or flying their flag. Yr 12 had a cultural food share, and there was a smorgasbord of foods being shared in tutor times.
Thursday's Culture Week activities saw a packed henna workshop, salsa dancing, kimbap making and KPop, as well as an origami workshop.
Culture Week Day 3 brought Pinata, Cultural board games and a poetry workshop.
Congratulations to Ms Winbourne, who has been recognised for her work on the Fourth Plinth competition.
Due to the hot weather, students will be allowed to wear their PE kit in place of their uniform on Thursday 19th June 2025. On Friday 20th June 2025, students can wear either PE kit or cultural dress (as part of our Culture Week celebrations).
Day 2 of Culture Week brought a Drama Club performance titled 'Identity', written by the students. We had students from Avenue Primary School, assisted by some keen year 7s, take part in a Afro-beats dance session (hosted by an ex Overton student!), and lastly a Chinese bracelet making workshop.
Culture Week started yesterday with a Carnival Mask making activity. There were some fanstastic designs on display. Well done to all involved.
