Gerrymandering allegations in Alberta show our current system is vulnerable to interference.
Moving to proportional representation ensures parties cannot gain an unfair advantage by redrawing lines.

A digital article screenshot from CBC News titled Here is the 'experiment' NDP Leader Avi Lewis is trying to run in Canadian politics. The subtitle notes that Lewis is calling for fundamental structural changes during his first Ottawa visit. Below the headline is a photo of Avi Lewis smiling in a suit, standing between two Canadian flags. The bottom half of the image features a pull quote where Lewis argues that the first-past-the-post system causes people to vote defensively or strategically. He concludes by stating that proportional representation is needed to restore faith in democracy and allow people to vote for what they believe in.
Appreciate @avilewis.ca bringing the case for proportional representation back to Ottawa.
Breaking the cycle of defensive voting is the only way to modernize our democracy. It is time to make every vote count.
“That’s why I’m happy to announce my government will be taking all the pro-corporate decisions necessary to continue exacerbating that financial and experiential divide,” he continued.

"Between 1999-2000 and 2025-26, B.C. spending on public schools increased by 32% compared to 50% for private schools."
This is not OK.
After a generation of systemic underinvestment, it's time to tax the rich to properly fund public education.

Onion coded (complimentary)
Not to mention anti-privacy
Hope this starts waking Canadian voters up to the truth about the Liberals and their political intentions. Banning surveillance pricing is a slam dunk, the only reason to oppose it is if you’re pro-consumer exploitation and okay with regular Canadians getting routinely ripped off for no reason
Today, the Liberals rejected our NDP motion to ban surveillance pricing - a dystopian practice that will drive up costs for Canadians if we allow it to take root.
The NDP is the only party fighting to protect you from getting ripped off at the checkout.

You must’ve known how duplicitous this looked to post, immediately on the heels of (hysterically) attacking his son for winning leadership
The cash-strapped federal NDP is getting a $670,000 financial boost. Members of the other main political parties on the Board of Internal Economy have decided to grant the parliamentary funds, even though the NDP does not have official party status.
Really great too to peek into the comments sections on articles/videos and see people saying “I’m a Conservative but—“ and “Can’t believe I agree with the NDP but—“
The popular public policy vacuum left by our two conservative federal parties is about to get filled. We’re on our way :)
Can’t describe how proud I am that Lewis’ first public foray is to go take on data privacy and surveillance pricing. We picked the right guy
NEW: COPE, OneCity, and the Greens have reached an agreement.
On October 17th we're going to Evict Ken Sim and elect a progressive majority at City Hall and at School Board and Park Board.

It’s also just more expensive longterm to run a city this way, because things will be left to degrade until they become unavoidable emergencies, which are more negatively impactful and costlier to fix than planned replacements and upkeep
Getting Sim out of office is our city’s absolute top priority
Officially got my COPE membership now and I ain’t coming back to OneCity, but I’m glad you guys figured it out at least
I get a little frustrated with the left being so damn sure humans can’t be replaced, and that after the bubble pops this stuff all goes away. It’s setting us up to be blindsided in the instances where valuable people *are* going to be permanently left out in the cold
When companies are being loud about replacing all people with AI you can bet it’s smoke and mirrors to drum up hype
But when they’re quiet and cagey on the topic, that’s when you know they’ve *actually* replaced people with AI. King is being cagey
they should also use this announcement to broadcast that the vancouver liberals are not in any way a progressive party and that it sucks that the public views them as such
Vancouver's three "progressive" parties — COPE, Greens and OneCity — have announced an agreement to only have five council candidates each in this year's election.
They will also "agree to engage in a good-faith effort to determine which progressive mayor is best suited to
compete" over the summer.
this applies not just to the games industry and it's starting to feel like it might, in fact, be the Biggest Reason

if suspending federal gas taxes is such a good plan,
Carney would have done it BEFORE the by-elections
not the morning after
Such a god damn disappointment.
There’s still a federal sales tax on bicycles.
Striking that the Liberals and Conservatives offer the same response to pain at the pump: siphon money out of the public purse instead of Big Oil’s profits.

One of the things we decided first is Venba is not just about the joy of cooking because she's put in a role where she HAS to cook.
That's why the first time she cooks, she's not excited about it.
And the only time she's shown eating, is in the last level, when someone else cooks for her.
We love to see it!
