Why does every real estate listing have to describe the neighborhood as “desirable” even when it’s not?

I’ve been trying to search for the amount of US medical debt, but what I’m finding is surprisingly low given that it’s responsible for such a high proportion of bankruptcies.
Why aren’t Democrats campaigning on forgiving student loan AND medical debt? It seems like a majority have one or the other.
The US likes to pretend that they can have both their metaphorical guns and butter, but the enormous amount of money we’ve spent in the past 6 weeks could house all of our unhoused, forgive all defaulted college loans, or bring us to carbon neutrality.
We choose guns, so we don’t have butter.
It seems very clear the writers of non-US news sources agree that Iran is in a drastically stronger position today than when the US military first attacked them, and the US is in a drastically weaker position.
Why do US journalists seem fooled even though their international counterparts are not?
This entire decade would have been very different if Democrats had added more seats to Congress after the 2020 Census, and the fact that it still doesn’t seem to be on the radar for 2030 says everything you need to know about how uncreative and lazy the status-quo defending Democrats are.
“Affordable housing” needs to come with minimum standards, not just overall but for specific rooms as well. Corridors should be a minimum width. Kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms should have minimum dimensions. Windows and outdoor spaces should be required. Affordable should not mean unlivable.

Depending on who you are, billionaire media moguls feed you immigrant hating or jew hating to distract you from the world’s biggest problems.
If you live in the United States but immigrants or “Israel” is your number one issue, I have news for you: you’re easily fooled by low quality propaganda.

The US Supreme Court has, once again, issued a binding decision on a hypothetical and fictitious case. This extremely unprofessional court, full of liars, fraudsters, and bribe-takers, is the biggest reason most Americans have lost faith in our justice system.
A thing that’s fun to think about is that when it happens it will be a GLOBAL celebration. Like there will be video from around the world of people dancing and laughing and singing
Is it possible for Democrats to consider that a person who was a State legislator, ran for Governor and lost, became Mayor of Evanston, and then ran for Congress is only interested in being in a position of prestige and has no actual policy or cultural goals that they are trying to achieve?
I continue to live in hope that, someday, the Democratic Party will abandon its sophomoric obsession with elevating candidates based on their seniority, and instead starts picking candidates based on their ideas and goals.
I’ve met several of the candidates in IL’s 9th CD, and I can tell you that the race was filled with a bunch of mediocre, self-involved people who did not campaign on real issues that impact people. Daniel Biss’s win is just another example of Democrats giving the next person in line their turn.
It is *fascinating* to me how quickly some people have gone completely from “we all must work in the office! human collaboration is vital and only happens in person!” to “I can replace all these pesky people with chatbots!” Definitely some commentary there about our society and who gets to choose.
What the stock market needs now is a breakthrough in quantum computing that turns the whole AI datacenter thing into an obsolete waste.
That would be hilarious.
Journalists, please remember that repeating obviously false statements is not balance or fairness. It is actively participating in deception.
A chart showing that the yield on the 10-year US Treasury bond has risen from 4.00% to 4.30% while the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States has lowered its overnight lending rate from 4.50% to 3.75%
This trend is extremely alarming.

Google is now using AI to change headlines written by journalists, which is simply a bad practice and risks editorializing our writing. If you rely on Google to find tje journalism you consume, maybe its time to find a different search engine, or better yet, sign up for more newsletters
Pretty sure it’s pronounced two-two-two-twenty-two-twenty-two.

Elected Democrats spending more time today praising Dick Cheney than Zohran Mamdani is a great case study in abject fucking moral failure.
Fascists tell you that corruption is okay because you can participate in the corruption and benefit from it too, but, in the long run, no one benefits more from a culture of threats and bribes than they would from a culture of freedom and fairness.
I’m seriously considering voting “no” on all referred bond questions because Mike Johnston has been a mediocre Mayor with terrible spending priorities. Could a new Mayor do better with the same amount in a couple of years if we don’t saddle Denver with Mike Johnston’s debt right now?
The way that Wall Street is just pricing in 3% inflation, instead of 2% inflation, as the new normal is extremely bad for the long term future of the United States.
I am once again urging the tech workers of America to form a union
I keep looking at history for tips about how we might make it through this era, but all it is doing is solidifying a bleak and hopeless outlook.
It is worth noting that looking at history paints those who “condemn political violence”, but do nothing to correct its causes, in a very ugly color.
“Republicons” is a good one.
Democrats really need to get on board with misnaming the Republican Party the same way Republicans keep misnaming the Democratic Party.
Since the news has decided to quote Republicans calling it the “Democrat Party” without writing “[sic]”, I think Democrats should start calling it the Republicant Party, and if I see even one correction I’m going to be pissed.
Decided to scroll my Twitter (“Following”) feed for a few minutes this morning so I could see who is still posting over there and judge them.
