Research shows that social support networks in the general population are shrinking.
Meanwhile, non-monogamous people are building resilient communities of care.
Graphic reading "90% have 2+ sources of moderate to strong instrumental or emotional support."
We show up for each other.
>90% of people reported 2+ sources of moderate to strong instrumental or emotional support... particularly from within their non-monogamous relationships and communities.
So what’s protecting us?
Despite widespread stigma, our well-being matches the general population. Something is making a difference.
The answer: each other!
Graphic reading "61% experienced stigma or discrimination." There is a line chart showing a negative correlation between average level of life satisfaction and number of instances of stigma and discrimination based on non-monogamy."
But stigma and discrimination still take a toll.
61% experienced stigma or discrimination – and more instances of discrimination are (unsurprisingly) linked to lower life satisfaction and self-esteem.
Graphic reading ">50% report high life satisfaction and self-esteem."
It turns out...
We're thriving!
>50% of people reported high life satisfaction and self-esteem – consistent with the general population

This is as stupid as saying "vegetarianism isn't progressive. Eating human flesh doesn't make you enlightened."
Words cannot describe how stupid this @wsj.com headline is. Polyamory DEFINITIONALLY is NOT cheating. How this made it past the editors is beyond me.
It would be wonderful if polyamorous relationships were legally recognized. I have two partners. But only my wife has legal rights. I would need an attorney draft several documents to give my other partner the rights a marriage license gives my wife. And insurance still won't recognize her at all.
🤣🤣🤣

Three years ago, ZERO cities had these protections.
By the end of this month, that number will have grown to EIGHT cities across FOUR states!
