As another fun statistic, Leonardo DiCaprio earned a new record for most total nominations in the category at 8. He was previously nominated for Marvin's Room, Titanic, The Aviator, The Departed, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Don't Look Up, & Killers of the Flower Moon.

He has yet to win.

Our final possibility, Michael B. Jordan, already has a trophy for the only superhero movie to win the category, Black Panther. A win for Sinners would mark the first horror film.

Benecio del Toro could also capture that record. Traffic and One Battle After’s 25 year split is more than double the current record.

The film with which it shares that tie, Shakespeare in Love, could also break it. Gwyneth Paltrow is nominated again with the cast of Marty Supreme, which would mark the longest gap between wins of any actor.

Another Gosford Park alum, Emily Watson, is part of the cast of Hamnet. GP is currently tied for most cast members to have won the category multiple times, with four (Michael Gambon, Derek Jacobi, Kelly Macdonald and Ryan Phillippe)

His Frankenstein costar, Charles Dance, won his first as part of the cast of Gosford Park. That film boasts the largest cast to ever win the category.

Christoph Waltz won his first for Inglourious Basterds, and his nomination with the ensemble of Frankenstein is only his second time in the category.

My favorite awards season deep dive: actors with multiple awards for The Actor Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Last year Stanley Tucci (Conclave) won his second, and tonight one person will become the 20th to pull off the feat (with the possibility of a 21st as well)
