In my story Southbound Hearts, some shenanigans have Law and Corazon transported to the South Blue, where they fall in with a pair of young punks while they reorient themselves

Here 10 year old Kidd uses Corazon as his packmule as they gather scrap metal kidd can sell in town.

Tween Kidd coming to the realization he has to get stronger. Childhood is ending, a growth spurt just around the corner and soon he'll be big enough he wont ever have to watch Killer take a hit meant for him ever again.
Not that Killer wont try anyway.

Someone creative and bright, who saw a future for themselves that was bigger than this desolate island tearing itself apart. Had a dream of being someone. A kid that saw a child killer like him right there at his side when they achieved glory.

Someone who'd one day call him partner.

Who probably wouldn't have lived to adulthood at his rate, until another street kid, younger but just as angry and prone to throwing fists as he was, looked at him and saw someone they wanted to be friends with.

Growing up. A scared, loney, angry child who survived by using extreme violence to make people 'respect' him. A child named 'Killer' because thats what he was. Cold bloody, stone cold killer.
