I pray the generation of babies being born right now hears it early and often and loud and that every single one of them has access to an instrument if they want it, in Herbie's name amen

Repost with a cool song that's under two minutes.
"Mr Introvert" by Londoner Samm Henshaw is a cheeky lil thing on his debut LP "Untidy Soul." His newest release "for someone, somewhere, who isn't us" is out now and it's *very* good.

thinkin bout him
Sometimes in art you have to break something good to build something great.
I had an apartment on Buell between two UVM party houses and the best sign for a party I ever saw went out of their way to put below the band's name (NOT A JAM BAND!)
Same with MMW and to a lesser degree, Scofield; Sco's fingerprints are all over the playing of big name jam guitarists like Compa, Mitarotonda, et al. Also, his stuff with MMW and Gov't Mule put his name in every jam fans mind.
Hard agree. Same with MMW. Band that jams? Yes. Band that fucks? Hard. Jam band? No.
Our last hero is Serhii Vasyluk, a soldier in the 130th Battalion of the Territorial Defense Forces and the lead singer of the rock band Tin' Sontsya's (Shadow of the Sun)

A screenshot of my profile on bluesky after switching from dark mode to all the way dark mode
bluesky looks infinitely better blacked all the way out. boss.
Missing Spotify's Playlist Radio feature dearly today. Why remove such a useful tool? I discovered so much new music using Playlist Radio. "Enhance" is almost always useless to me.
so dreamy and wistful- really digging this. thanks for sharing.
MMW are legends of the NY jazz scene; defo became more lumped in with jam bands when John Scofield started collaborating with them but their sound can't really be pinned down. Brilliant players too :^)

Cobb: “I sure wish you could, too, Miles.”

flavours dec. '24 is #nowplaying on spotify - plenty of textures, grooves, and feels packed into 90 minutes of sonic splendour. for fans of: funk, jazz fusion, sound you can touch, airplanes, guava juice, or translucent electronics. check it out :^)
I miss old Outkast more often than many musicians and they're both still alive.
that "attempt" was about as legit as his tan. really sad day on so many levels, one of which is we're calling it the "attempt," another that he thought he could fool the united states.
listening to music while doing something is simply the way to do anything for me but i'm rly excited to be doing active listening again- my improvisational skills are getting better for it too.
monobody's 2018 effort "raytracing" effortlessly vascilates between tappy, emotive math rock, post-hardcore and jazz fusion with agility and grace, ever pushing their soundscapes in an intentional, fully realized direction. no boring moments on the record.

now
i've put together two playlists so far specifically for this account in the past two weeks, a nov. and a dec. issue. that paired with album reviews and baby, you've got a stew goin.
reach out! love all aspects of music especially how it brings us together. we need that more than ever. *
those playlists would get burnt to CD's and played on my discman before, during, and after school until i made a new one. it both made me feel proud and presented me with a new listening experience each time i replayed a track to absorb what it has to offer. turns out: it still makes me feel joy. ↓
process
i recall how as a kid (limewire era), i spent hours/days in windows media player building playlists obsessively until they flower just perfectly. listening for complimentary tones and textures and adjusting endlessly. my reward was an eyes closed adventure through sound and space. ↓
inspiration
on the bus recently i realized although i listen to music all the time, it is usually not active listening. it's like reading we do to navigate our days- signage, menus, etc. vs sitting down in a good chair and reading, really digging into a book. i've come to almost just... hear music ↓
mission statement 🧵
-facilitate extended, mindful listening sessions,
-spread the sounds of lesser-known artists,
-make friends :^)
my playlists are intended to be listened to with headphones on and notifs off- each playlist is 90 mins long. doing it monthly now, more if people dig it. #promosky ↓
