[ffxiv] Tanking Alliance Raids is almost always boring because nothing compares to the second boss in Paradigm's Breach--which is saved from its narrative irrelevancy by good fight design--so I need to figure out what job I'm taking into the new Alliance raid before it drops...

Island Sanctuary is best done in small bites between waiting for queues. Can't recc finishing Arcadion enough. Very fun raid series. Role Quests are hit or miss no matter what expansion you're doing them for. The fight design for the Merchant's Tale is my fave of the Variant Dungeons so far.

every year that passes I feel this more and more acutely.

Now STEM majors are looking down the barrel of late-stage capitalism, where no matter what field they go into, they're likely to end up on a career path where they desperately try to explain why something unprofitable is still worthwhile to a bunch of Muskian ghouls who couldn't care less.

Arts degrees got so much shit for so long, even as we tried to argue that understanding art and literature offered a lens into the socio-polticial context of a given time, and that careers in fields revolving around art were meaningful enough to want to sustain. And we're still the butt of jokes.

I'm poor as shit and working in 3 part-time positions with limited hours, and I'm curious by nature, which is the only reason I have the time to cut through this dense jargle to figure out what this research would be useful for and why. Ain't no rich person doing that.

Whenever I have to read multiple dense papers from a specialized STEM field, I end up thinking about how writing academic papers largely intended to be read your peers in the field doesn't actually prepare anyone to argue why their research matters to anyone with the wealth to fund it.

BLM: Add a second charge to Manaward so I can win more chicken contests with people who try to drop AOEs in my Leylines.

DRG: Trash Life Surge, re-add the two Nastronds that got removed, and give the class a mitigation button that isn't part of DPS rotation. Roll Lance Charge into Battle Litany. First tap puts both up, then ability changes to solo DPS buff which changes back the the solo + party buff when you hit it.

Not Mantra, Meditation.

MNK: Add a buff to Mantra so that every time I hit it, it shoots an aura blast at the target or something. It's insane that we're about to hit 8.0 and this class doesn't have a GCD to use at range that deals damage.

For the DPS I'm currently playing:

BRD: Roll Refulgent into Burst Arrow when it proccs, same for Shadow Bite and Ladonsbite, and make the latter a circular AOE you can cast at range. Sick of it being a cone. (1/3)

I wouldn't count Expedient on the level of Icarus or Aetherial Shift. That's for specific spots in a fight for damage reduction or party movement, whereas the other two are just to save the player using them. ASTs movement skill is Lightspeed to me.
