Why are Americans fighting each other when we so obviously have a common enemy?

a cat balancing on two open cabinent doors that togther provide them with enough space to rest stabley. There is a speech bubble borrowed from the burning room with a talking dog meme that says "This is Fine"
As an AuDHDer ... if you ask me how I am handling a given situation ... and I say "This is fine" ... I mean ... this *exact* precarious situation is currently viable and can be tolerated for the time being ... but even a minor shift might be more than I can deal with.
Would love to see photos YES
“I don’t feel as though fate looks upon you often, and when it does, you better be ready to seize the opportunity,” said TJ Sabula, the UAW worker who heckled President Trump and who Trump flipped off and cursed at. “And today I think I did that.”

There’s a big story everyone is missing—but this article hits on it.
We aren’t just seeing public health dismantled bc we’ve been taken over by conspiracy theorists and lunatics.
What we’re really seeing is the giant, predatory, underegulated wellness industry come to Washington.
This is also an *oddly* specific deadline. Why September, specifically? What's happening then?
"We need to cut costs. Well, no-one will mind if we cut back on [insert highly marginalised group here]".
This isn't to say that there aren't concerted efforts to demonise disabled people. There are. And that makes the chance of backlash for discriminating against us lower. But people don't need to hate us to discriminate against us - it just needs to be convenient.
You don't need a secret lobby group issuing top-down orders to make companies discriminate against disabled people, for example. You don't need a widespread campaign about how terrible we are. If left to it, companies will discriminate against us anyway, because it's simply more profitable to do so.
News flash
Choice in life costs more than choice in death. Can we trust our choices will be safeguarded when money rules the equation? Very, very scary.
He just said “the cartels have control over the entire country” of Mexico, and it’s time for us to “wage war on the cartels”.
A great description of the process, painful though it may be. It is the only way in things like this.
It would be ideal if the national guard stepped up and arrested the DC capitol security police.
Speak to your friends, neighbors, relatives who are in the guard and encourage them to speak to their respective units.
If they're going to rip up the constitution, it's time for action.
Square Canva graphic with very dark black-and-white photo of chaparral mountains under a cloudy sky. A very large red double quote mark is at the top. Next, white text reads, "Parents who aren’t themselves autistic—and who rely on mainstream autism resources—often have no guidance for viewing their autistic kids positively. They may not see their children as who they are, but rather as what they aren’t." Next is a red rectangle containing all-caps black text reading, "We're here to help." At the bottom is white text with a red @ sign, reading "@ThinkingAutism"
Not only is the term "profound autism" harmful & limiting, but the #ProfoundAutism lobby works with the ABA industry, which treats autistic distress and pain as "behaviors" to be eliminated—and that is DANGEROUS.

Following a White House anti-DEI order, the National Cryptologic Museum covered up exhibits of women and people of color in its Hall of Honor. The NSA reversed course after former employees mobilized.
Good work, rebel federal employees. Keep going. We need you. Thank you. 🧪

Succeeding and thriving as an autistic person can be hard, because "the world is predominantly set up for the neuromajority of people, not the minority of Autistic/ADHD or other neurodivergent, disabled or marginalised groups." From @autisticrealms.bsky.social:

And no I’m not saying that disabled people, unemployed people, kids, etc. are burdens but as a disabled and chronically ill person who can’t do “traditional” work, that’s how we’re perceived. Perhaps they won’t say it as cruelly as we are usually hear (lazy, worthless, etc) but it’s what they see.

I logged into SSA.gov and downloaded the history of social security and Medicare payments associated with my account, because who knows what is going to happen to government security.
