My new article w/t C. Anckar: Does the president's power decrease during cohabitation (where the president and PM represent different camps)? Our results show that power decreases, but only where the president is directly elected and where we apply the broader of our definitions of cohabitation.
Weak autocracies are far more common than strong autocracies.
They are also often far more dangerous and damaging than strong autocracies.
Never take hope from an autocrat’s weakness. Instead, prepare for the worst.
