@tananarivedue.bsky.social has talked about the healing powers of horror (I swear she wrote an article about it but I can't find it now) and how it gives us a safe space to face & battle our own monsters. It's a perspective that really spoke to me.

For what Microsoft alone has invested in ChatGPT, you could pay 96,000 artists $50 an hour to make art full time for a year.

I am experiencing severe pain in my pinky and directly below my pinky in my palm (I blame intensely knitting socks on tiny needles for months) and now I can't knit, I can't play video games, I have lost my beloved hobbies 😭. Except for reading. I guess I'll read. And make a doctor's appt.

Remember: When you read a book, write a book, buy a book, hold a book, smell a book, get a book from the library, look at books, or talk about books, your body releases booxytocin, which makes you feel better and live longer. Get more books. They’re good for you. It’s science.

My first published story haunted me for YEARS and that's really the main reason I was able to get it out. And afterwards I literally said: pay attention to your ghosts!

I now read everything asking myself, "Was this AI assisted?" Cause too many articles have that feel. Like, "Just got a little help from the nonsense machine." Just enough to make it stink.

I have this problem! And I'm not an early bird, and I have to clock a certain number of hours in my workday, so if I write first thing during my normal waking hours, I'll be working late into the night to make my pay...

Have to figure out how to be an early bird so I can write again, I guess??

I literally bought the Norse edition as an adult because I was obsessed with the Greek edition as a kid and I was soooo disappointed

I am assuming you actually mean just a basic hat like this, but I will make the other style if that's what you want...

Do you have a color preference? Brim or no brim? Is there a particular style you prefer?

Please let me know if you need any knitterly things! I would be more than happy to make you something. Fingerless mitts are great at keeping hands warm...

Reading that newsletter really made me reevaluate what I'm doing and what kinds of changes I can afford to make. It was very helpful!

My brain is complete mush right now from overwork and I haven't written anything in...almost a year and I'm pretty bummed about it.

So in case you didn't hear me yammering about it awhile back I had a story selected for @datlow.bsky.social 's Best Horror of the Year Volume 15! And you can now preorder it! It would mean the world to me if you did and if you could spread the word about it!

Ive been stupid busy with work this year and every single week I look longingly at Cat Rambo's Patreon posts and Zoom events schedule because I miss it so damn much. I keep my membership because I know I will get back there someday. Highly recommend for writers feeling disconnected from community.

The cover of Fantasy Magazine Issue #94 (August 2023). The cover art is of a Black woman with glowing white eyes in a head covering, looking over her shoulder at the viewer. There is a huge moon and a spooky forest in the background.

It feels strange to post about this given the sad news of
@FantasyMagazine's closure later this year, but I have a story in this month's issue. It's my first published story ever, actually. I was incredibly excited for Aug 1st and now I'm still excited, but also pretty bummed.

I also had my first short story published in Fantasy in January. I hate this news, but I'm looking forward to reading your story. Congratulations!

Gutted. My first story appeared in Fantasy this January. This is terrible news. www.fantasy-magazine.com/fm/non-fiction/editorial...
