I know, it just seems unfathomable. It's crazy enough the things he says and the actions he's responsible for, but that any member of the public thinks he's doing a good job blows my mind! Ballroom? Grift? Massive increase in his personal wealth? US citizens being killed by ICE? Where is the line?

Don't know if this is temporary, due to elections, or permanent. But the "Climate" shortcut on the BBC News website is now demoted to the "More" sub-menu. So any news regarding the Climate Crisis is officially less important than "Culture" or "Tech", amongst subjects.

Did u know? "Weeds" - wildflowers deserve a break.Rather than persecute them, we should celebrate them for the life they bring into our outside spaces. Like this Spotted Dead Nettle (Lamium maculatum) It arrived in my garden for free (whoop!) & my Hairy-Footed Flower Bees totally adore them. 🌱🌿🇬🇧🌱🌍🐝🪲

Critical Atlantic current significantly more likely to collapse than thought Scientists say finding is ‘very concerning’ as collapse would be catastrophic for Europe, Africa and the Americas

"Rahmstorf, who has studied the Amoc for 35 years, has said a collapse must be avoided 'at all costs'. 'I argued this when we thought the chance of an Amoc shutdown was maybe 5%, and even then we were saying that risk is too high, given the massive impacts. Now it looks like it’s more than 50%.'"

There is a cycle of :-
1) "They'll never believe it"
2) "John, tell them enough times and they'll believe you"
3) go to 1

After around 8 loops he says "Yes, that's a good idea. I'll just tell them that everything is fine".

There was a Spitting Image sketch, with John Major panicking about several disasters and "what will voters think". He's repeatedly advised to tell the public that "everything is fine", but he doesn't believe it will work.

I don't think you can be an atheist and believe in an antichrist... but I do think that anyone with even a little Biblical knowledge should see that Trump's words and deeds are a much better fit for the Antichrist than they are for Chist!

Sadly the human race is ignorant of much of what we really depend upon; insects, for instance. My main priority when creating my "wildlife area" was food and habitat for as many species of invertebrate as possible, as all other life depends upon them.

... and the loss of 50% of the world's arable land, with resulting mass migration. Just among the many other major problems. But as many politicians are keen to point out, saving ourselves costs money (even though it saves it later).

The newsreader on Radio 4 this morning, covering negotiations with Iran, referred to whether Iran would hand over their "nuclear dust, as President Trump calls it". To everyone else it's "Enriched Uranium", but that the USA has a child as President we need translations. What next, "Moo moo cows"?

I can't even see an article about it on the BBC News website. Checked under "Climate" too. Is it not important enough?

World leaders are always distracted by other things, and AMOC collapse is not something to talk to Trump about.

Did u know?Flower centres offer refuge for insects on cold days: - it's warmer in the centre of a flower,so they can get going quicker when the sun comes out;the scent of the flower masks their presence from predators & when the weather warms, they can eat before continuing with their day.Cool 🌱🌿🇬🇧🌱🌍🪲

Minister considers banning over-the-counter flea treatments for pets Ministers are considering restricting spot-on treatments and collars to prescriptions from vets and medical professionals.

Britain is one of the few countries in the world to treat pet fleas and worms prophylactically. This makes more sense. We are needlessly creating pollution and killing wildlife with our current practises. Not just pets, also with many agricultural/livestock treatments.

Our family reproduce so slowly that my dad fought in WW2, begging to end, and I have teenage kids. He had great sympathy for refugees and would have hated most of this crap.

Indeed. I often think that "convenience" will literally be the death of us (and not just environmentally).

Nice to hear that again. Never thought about it like that.

It's also what the BBC called their "green" series (not available though, which proves the title!) :-

Thanks, I've never checked which are the most common types. I see a fair variety of them around here, but I'd be hard pressed to say which ones.

We also have a _lot_ of Hawthorns! 😉
