Voted for blink, not least because I knew a girl who loved them and called her first child Josie. If I had guessed before the tournament, I would have flipped the seedings. Amazed at how wrong I was.

Hermitude - EIGHT Listen to EIGHT on TIDAL

Happy new Hermitude album day for those that celebrate (ie, everyone)

I've been buying kangaroo to supplement my protein from Woolies and cooking it up in batches... Today, and I didn't think this was possible, I put on possibly too much pepper. I didn't realise there was a roo / spice event horizon. I probably won't learn from this.

That's my update for today.

Tipsy is a delight.

I can't see daft punk losing to anyone.

Tipsy is going in the "cool discoveries from album brackets" playlist

Is it weird to have something called discovery that you have heard 10000 times?

Parsnips are low-key GOATed when delicious casseroles are the vibe

Indeed to painfully stretch the footy metaphor even further, if these were current members of the gws Giants, ted Leo would be Joe fonti - cult fav, absolutely unpredictably awesome in parts and solid af most of the time...Converge are the Toby Greene of heavy music.

My loyalty to Toby gets it

So who gets the vote?
There are no bad choices here - I was going to say to this converge is everything you want but it's kind of more. Ted Leo and his pharmacists try a lot of cool things, and when they pull off, it makes you applaud like someone took a speccy in a final your team isn't playing in

Converge - the band that my mentor Jem once declared killed hardcore because following converge, all hc was metal actually, and who am I to disagree with that take?
Lately I've been seeing old flyers for American nightmare and converge shows and dreaming about them. I reckon I would have loved them

Ahhhh, two bands I have always meant to check out but never have.
Ted Leo! These guys often tour Australia and I like that about them. I've never gone. Turns out they play a kind of new pornographers type concoction that really has some lovely songwriting moments. Nice.

And the ladies on the train to the stadium on pink concert days just know they are going to have THE BEST TIME WITH THEIR MATES AND OUR MATE PINK.

All hail pink!

She will tour and do show after show in a city until finally they don't sell out anymore. She did like 27 shows on one tour. None of this 3 cities 1 night each bullshit you get from everyone else.

I didn't nominate her, as I decided to parochially only nominate Australian artists, or albums I own and would never part with, and this is a mistake because pink is a billion percent an Australian national treasure. Her commitment to her Australian fans is beyond anything I've ever experienced.

Ahhh now that I've read the DC I realise this was a found recording from the 70s so it wasn't that much forcing kids to do old people music

Which is less funny.
Now it's just nice.

Still a horrific listen!
Still high art!

Still not voting for it.

With your classmates and 25 years from now 300 people on the internet are gonna get really confused as to why they are hearing this recording instead of echolalia by something for Kate

Genuinely outstanding art.

Anyway I'm not voting for it. Ben folds record is better than I was expecting

There is something SO DEEPLY FUNNY to me about basically doing a field recording of kids forced to massacre a bunch of old peoples music. Like it's a horrific listen, but man, they forced them to learn these songs at least enough to then lay it down to tape. In 2001. Here kid, sing some Neil diamond

I have to say I used to enjoy describing where I lived as "Lower Downer" (the Northbourne side), seperate from "Upper Downer" and "Proper Downer".

Where Margo falls down is thats really patchy and really one note after a while. Which is kind of the same with cake, but at least love you madly and short skirt long jacket were good singles in 2001.
When Margo hits, it's absolutely sublime, that Sunday morning is one hell of a song.
Tough one.

Diplomatic interaction completely wrong, sometimes on purpose, other times just because they don't know the consequences. It's galling, yet fascinating, but also tremendously sad.

Just get a humble bundle, you absolute peanuts.

I've been thinking for a while now that the USA under this administration is doing it exactly like someone playing their second save of a civ game. The first time around they didn't really do that much because they didn't know how. This time they are trying to be more aggressive but getting every

Hey at least we got to see Joe root put together an innings on Aussie soil, so there was that.

I'm pretty sure Nick Cave is the only Aussie entrant this time round so we have been clean bowled on day 2.

Really really really happy that the Sydney based food truck that was slapping people with 5% fees on their card transactions but refused to take cash for their massively overpriced empanadas won't be able to take the piss quite so hard in the future.

Haven't caught the train to work in a while, so maybe I'm reaching, but it's very serendipitous that the red haired passenger sitting in front of me alighted at Auburn.

This is easily the strongest matchup so far, and it's wild that I'm betraying my country to vote for a pom, but they need some type of win after the cricket over the summer so roots manuva gets it. What a record. What a single. Currently it's witness (1 hope) vs family affair for single of 2001

I don't think Colin meloy of the Decemberists is lyrics first all the time but fits the very narrative thing

3 weeks ago 4 1 0 0

Ha, this is me, but the other way around. This Nick Cave and the bad seeds record is absolutely beautiful. I guess I am old enough for it now. But nothing for me will top the nostalgia of roots manuva, I had only just started my club night, and holy smokes we rinsed that record.

Ahhh! Truly amazing beer. At the only gabs I ever went to, their "simz spicy vanilla gorilla" was the best drop off the day

I'm actually shocked I could remember it 22 years later... I have forgotten so much more important stuff.

Now, maybe, possibly, if the right prompt presents itself, I might be able to remember where I left my sunglasses.

Then the flaming lips came on straight after them and were magical and amazing.

So! Do I vote for them? I think the best moments on the low record are probably better than the best moments on the Thursday

But Thursday have earnt my vote by being more prominent in my life

Had broken and the lead singer was trying to fill the dead air. He told a joke "there are two muffins in an oven, and one of them says to the other "it's getting pretty warm in here" and the other muffin is all "Omg! A talking muffin!!!!"

I was grumpy and didn't like that joke.
