"What you feel in your heart towards the series is almost entirely irrelevant. What matters is what you do, because J. K. Rowling is out there doing a lot of things...Nothing is adequate to the situation except the truth. There is no way to watch the new Harry Potter show subversively"

Shout out to all my fellow agenders! Being agender people is just as natural as being a gendered person.
(yes, you're allowed to chuckle, we need some levity today)
Transfiguration by Lance Harlow Moth
Alright girls it's Trans Day of Visibility and I've got like 16k followers, let's put some love on obscure indie trans fiction!
I hadn't heard of this new novella from @harlowmoth.bsky.social until today, let's give it a spin and see what we're working with 😙
Thank you to everyone who came to our celebration of new books in Latinx Studies. It was a wonderful event. Gracias. #latinxstudies
Boston University, where I teach, has been taking down Pride Flags from faculty and office windows because of a new “content neutral” ban on public-facing flags and banners.
This is a bad policy that infringes on free speech. Faculty are protesting. Today the President defended these actions. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
This dreadful book banning bill, H.R. 7661, has made it out of committee and into the House. It's time to call your reps.
Bluesky is mostly a blow-by-blow account of right wing settlers dismantling the liberal settler civilizational infrastructure, and liberal settlers glimpsing (mostly without realizing it) the beginnings of a destruction endured by first nations to make this culturally evangelical & rapacious state.
I really don’t think enough is being made of the fact that it’s a three supposedly do-nothing toothless scholarly organizations—the AHA, the MLA, and the ACLS— who are directly responsible for one of the clearest and most damning exposures of this administration’s stupidity and malfeasance.
We need all the culture we can get on here.
😔😔😔
It's out! @scottsvisor.bsky.social has a great book that you should order RN from @dukepress.bsky.social ! www.dukeupress.edu/breaking-the...
Six months ago today, scholar and teacher Ricardo Ortiz suddenly passed away.
New at PB: Maia Gil’Adí (@maiagiladi.bsky.social) remembers his life.
MUST READ:
The best synthesis I have seen so far of things I knew or had put together from various sources but had not really seen pulled together 🧪
Importantly, I don’t think these academics were an aberration. I think a lot of scientists would have entered these circles, given the option.
University of Texas Austin announced it was closing its American Studies Department just as Harper attacked one of the few foundations left willing to fund American studies research
In my latest article, I write about how ICE raids in Minnesota echo the imprisonment of our ancestors at Fort Snelling, at Bdote, and the execution of the Dakota 38. This isn’t new. The land remembers. So do we. #iceout @sfchronicle.com

What's happening in Minnesota is one reason the Reconstruction Amendments banned insurrectionists from holding office. Unfortunately, the originalists on the Supreme Court interpreted the plain language of the amendment to mean its opposite.

“Gulf of America,” just like “Department of War,” was not a simple name change. It was a test to see public reaction. Imperialism doesn’t need to hide in plain sight.
This has always been America.
Hence we urgently need a shift from solidarity to sovereignty, as I have long said.

Such a great talk!
@marisollebron.bsky.social this is so exciting!
Berkeley folks: I’ll be at @ucberkeleyofficial.bsky.social tomorrow at noon discussing my self-translations & my translations of Wingston González & Nicole Cecilia Delgado!
Friends— here it is. Updated & expanded thanks to the space afforded to me in the @therumpus.net & the guidance of the brilliant @roxanegay.bsky.social’s edits. The win centers Muslims humanity — but what does that mean in a country that rejects that?

Led by David J. Vázquez and others, our newest Provocations explores Renee Hudson's book: “Latinx Studies practitioners have long grappled with our field imaginary, and Hudson’s book offers one of the richest elaborations of what the field might become.”

really wild to think that there are 3 books out there in the world, by me.
Have a piece in this volume, due out later this month.
Most excellent thread on making ICE melt.
