A candidate that actually has my best life in mind is a whole different animal. If I’m going to spend my limited time and resources supporting someone, it’s going to be that person. Determining who those people are accurately is an important exercise.
It doesn’t take former Republicans to have been screwing over Democratic voters. Centrist Dems and liberal Dems have been quite proficient at it. In the end, they might be the better strategic choice. But that’s just a matter of picking your battlefields.
