Check out the newest preprint on the interaction of attention and long-term memory spearheaded by @sabomelinda.bsky.social, @william-nm.bsky.social, Kia, and lab almumni: Nahid and Nora.
⏱️ Strikingly, this difference was specific to periods of uncertainty about which action was required and when - precisely when temporal structuring demands were greatest - and disappeared once action identity and timing became predictable. n/n
👐 We found that lateralised sensorimotor mu/beta (8-30 Hz) activity modulation related to hand action prioritisation differed between the groups. 4/n
🧠 To address this question, we recorded magnetoencephalography (MEG) in a group of people who stutter and a group of typically fluent speakers while they performed a visuomotor working-memory task which encourages dynamic selection and shifts between hand actions. 3/n
🗣️ Stuttering is related to differences in the temporal structuring of speech, but do these differences generalise to the temporal structuring of other actions? 2/n

What is the brain for? Active inference is widely discussed as a unifying framework for understanding brain function, yet its empirical status remains debated. Our review identifies core predictions across the action-perception cycle and evaluates their empirical support: osf.io/preprints/ps...

Or, technically: We used daily sampling of mood and cognitive measures in a large group of volunteers with high x low mood instability and showed impaired contextual cueing across days but not within days for high mood-instability participants. n/n
