I originally made this post 2 years ago after the summer olympics and I just want to follow up and say that the women's competition this year has given me so much hope for the future of women's #figureskating We have ladies 20+ medaling and thriving and not being terribly injured at 18 years old

Cried for Kaori today but she’s a legend and I love the podium we got. Alysa winning is awesome and I’m glad she did it the way she wanted to! And so happy for Amber!! 💖

i hope kaori knows how incredible she is. four olympic medals (two team silvers, individual bronze and individual silver). four world medals, three of them gold. three GPF medals. four clean programs in milan. a goddess

AND when she was 13-14, so many people in the US were just salivating to push her onto the russian track. they saw eteri's results and wanted alysa to be "our" eteri girl, doing quads and pushing herself to win the olympics at 16 and retire broken. and instead she won healthy and at 20!

i was looking at the protocols. ilia's base values were 10 points above shun's (95 vs 85). ilia added about 15 points through GOE (reaching a tech score of 110) and shun added about 21 (tech score of 106). so despite shun's superior execution, he just couldn't catch up on BV #MilanoCortina2026
