To any that knew Ellen in the #DevBio community- you know she was so thoughtful and always willing to help. She cared about all of us and dedicated herself to improving the future of science and our community. She will be sorely missed. Sending my condolences to all that loved her.💔

Oh my, this is such horrible news! My deepest condolences to you and the family during this tragic time. She was an inspirational person for the community and will be missed. She made a difference!
Got to meet Furness. Also a dinosaur enthusiast.
Listening to none other than THE John Furness lecture us all about enteric neuron types!! 🤓 in the stomach.
Picture of the screen of opening talk.
In Leuven at the opening of the Enteric Nervous System meeting! Like a kid in a candy store for me! ens-leuven2026.eu
Pleased to announce two new publications, in Current Biology and PNAS, from outstanding postdoc Delai (Dylan) Huang, just a week before he leaves to start his new faculty position at Zhejiang University.
Congrats!!
Honored to be named a 2025 Fellow
Congrats!
Honored & excited to join the list of @aaas.org fellows, which includes many of my science heroes. Big shout out to the many outstanding new fellows, including my colleagues at @Rice. www.aaas.org/news/aaas-we...
I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
Very sad to hear of the passing today of our UCSF colleague Mike Bishop at the age of 90. A legendary and inspiring figure. He also led UCSF as Chancellor. Have a listen to his Nobel lecture. youtube.com/watch?v=CDv7...

Call for Papers! Submit to the Splicing in Development and Disease special issue
Deadline extended: Submit your research on splicing in development and disease to the Differentiation special issue led by Guest Editors Natoya Peart and Karine Choquet by June 30, 2026. Learn more: www.sciencedirect.com/special-issue/322731/spl...
Wishing everyone luck as we collectively get through the next week. May the odds be ever in your favor!
Please check out our new preprint! Using single cell analysis paired with HCR to visualize transcript localization we have identified cell and tissue-specific expression of various genes encoding tubulins, kifs, and dyneins during neural crest development!
Awesome! Congrats!
Oh wow. Ok, good to know!
😂
So I asked my capstone undergrad class today if anyone had heard of or knew what microarrays were...
Graphic with scientific image and text: The image features a dark, high-resolution microscopy view of a small organism shown from above, with green and red fluorescent signals highlighting internal structures against a black background. The scientific image is placed at the top and framed by a wide light blue background. Below the image, bold white sans-serif text appears inside dark magenta rectangular boxes reading, “HOW GUT MICROBES INFLUENCE THE HEART.” In the lower right corner is a dark blue “MAX DELBRÜCK CENTER” logo.
Some gut bacteria talk to the heart – through the brain.
Researchers at the #mdcBerlin identified a gut–brain–heart pathway in zebrafish. A microbial metabolite (IAA) influenced specific neurons and heart function.

idk that seems to be the understatement of the week. this is actually happening, postdocs and RAs are being let go, and projects falter. 'could face funding gaps'? this is actually happening at a large scale. 'Worry' doesnt reflect the existential crisis that many of my colleagues are in.
Thanks for clarifying that.
Hi Coleen, that is a fact? Do you have a source for that?
Placing an update here for those who want to read more about the SGA Github www.uribelabrice.com/single-cell-...
Did you teach out to Richard Behringer?
We used a confocal laser scanning microscope.
Thank you!!
We are leveraging this systems-level SGA to uncover unappreciated mechanistic insight at the cell and tissue levels into #ENS construction. Stay tuned for our work that exploits this pipeline within various mutant and perturbation conditions. Please reach out! 3/3 doi.org/10.1096/fj.2...
rounds of sequential #HCR and 3D imaging in zebrafish larvae to reveal spatial expression of numerous mRNAs in the same specimen. Data from these imaging data sets are then computationally analyzed for spatial cell groups, spatially variable genes, and differentially expressed genes along 3D 2/3
