Hoping things improve soon
We're honoured and grateful to have received the library of the radical historian and journalist Richard Gott.
As with all our library sales, the books will be priced affordably, and we know they will find good homes.
The sale begins from 11am, Saturday 18th April.
Fingers crossed for you
Not highest thing on my list but I am pleased that weekly school newsletter highlights library collection and active commitment to diversity. Not sure Mr14 has ever borrowed a book.
I am heading there tomorrow.
This is so cool and I can’t wait to see it on display at the National Portrait Gallery. Really fascinating to see this kind of rare double portrait with male figures.

Oh, will try out next weekend

Great exhibition, catch it in Lewes (a nice day out if you live in London) or when it tours.
Picasso painting, Three Dancers
Tracey Emin painting of a reclining female nude
Yesterday, my supposed rest day, I did over 17000 steps and saw not one, but two exhibitions at Tate Modern. I liked the design of the Picasso exhibition but the Tracey Emin was the one I want to go back to.
Heads up for academics - I just got a notification of a data breach linked to Highwire Press, a host for 100s of journals. Looks like it's mostly just emails/locations/affiliations being sold on the darkweb but be super alert to anything phishy smelling in your inboxes
list of journals in link below
Looking forward to reading this.
Worse is the idea that by making ourselves “normal” we will appease those who hate us. This has never ever worked. Never. They just demand more and more until you’re gone.
Fingers of right hand, one in white dressing
Picked the right week to take annual leave. Up early to NHS walk in centre. On the plus side, have to avoid getting dressing wet so can't wash dishes.
Just add date accessed.
Now on the bbc. Thanks to the @neunion.bsky.social for taking this issue seriously and pledging to oppose censorship and the far right. Vital at all times, and limiting access to books feels especially cruel in the National Year of Reading @literacy-trust.bsky.social

Its the best break from work
I remember the days of Maundy Thursday and Easter Tuesday being holidays... still we get paid leave between Xmas and New Years.
Oh, good. Buying and selling houses is a nightmare.
Fantastic news
But, great hair
Glad to hear this articulated. Growing ever more wary of the ‘now with added AI !’ Sales pitch, especially when it comes with an added price tag 🤖 💰 #uksg2026
View of seats and rugby players warming up, within Tottenhan Spurs Stadium.
Out of office today... saw both women's and men's rugby games and a great day out.
Hugest congratulations
“I have no great opinion of [JK Rowling’s writing style]. When so many adult critics were carrying on about the “incredible originality” of the first Harry Potter book, I read it to find out what the fuss was about, and remained somewhat puzzled; it seemed a lively kid’s fantasy crossed with a ‘school novel’, good fare for its age group, but stylistically ordinary, imaginatively derivative, and ethically rather mean-spirited.”
It’s a good day to revisit this Ursula Le Guin quote. In the best possible reality, Earthsea would be the dominant fantasy series for children.
And certainly the best dust jacket of any of the editions I've seen
Aside from the heating and maintenance bills, it's glorious. I'd probably eat pizza in the kitchen rather than the dining room but...
