Also:

1) Vaccines are important to military readiness. A sick army can't fight.

2) No major denominations forbid flu vaccines. They don't even involve fetal cells.

3) If individual autonomy is super essential to you, perhaps a military career isn't ideal. Think uniforms.

Odd from the guy who insisted that a clean shave is essential to military readiness.

He has now won-- 37-39% probably. He won not because of his pro-Ru orientation but partly despite it w a mandate to break the corrupt status quo (esp Peevski's hold on the judiciary). But someone who admires Ru cannot possibly do anticorruption. It's oxymoronic.

I don’t think your positions are in conflict.

Both positions are problematic.

Both misplace the ethical limits of force. One leaves them too broad (for their own side) & so blesses unnecessary violence. The other draws them too tightly & so permits violence, being unwilling to stop it.

NEW: Republicans (and Fetterman) just BLOCKED a war powers resolution in the Senate. Rand Paul voted with all Democrats. Senate Republicans (and Fetterman) are now on record in support of this illegal war.

Truly not. They have a lot to say about just cause and nothing at all to say about any of the rest of it.

The U.S. Is Still Routinely Killing Civilians in Boats The Trump administration has hit a grim milestone with its 50th strike on a civilian boat in the waters off Latin America.

“There’s a danger that these lawless killings just become background noise,” @bcfinucane.bsky.social told @theintercept.com. “The U.S. Congress remains the institution best situated to bring these to halt — if not now, then at least after the midterms.

Applying total systemic friction on the cartels. On April 13, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Two male narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No U.S. military forces were harmed.

At what point will the GOP admit that perhaps, just maybe, the President is not ok?

It’s incoherent to claim Christian values as your own and tolerate this.

Russia labels human rights group Memorial 'extremist' Russia's Supreme Court deemed the storied rights organization Memorial "clearly anti-Russian" in a closed-door ruling. Memorial said the decision marked a new phase of repression in Russia.

Memorial does important work, from documenting Stalin’s crimes to recording contemporary human rights abuses.

But #Putin is afraid of a truthful telling of history & an honest accounting of his own regime’s behavior.

And so Memorial must be silenced.

Also I swear to God if he doesn't use nukes but carpet bombs the civilian infrastructure of the entire country you don't get to fucking say he showed restraint or its normal or what the fuck ever, war crimes are about the crimes not the means.

I think it is both important and really difficult for folks to distinguish between 'rampant war crimes' of the sort that Russia, for instance, does in Ukraine as opposed to reduced but still very horrible amount of civilian suffering that a war waged according to law and custom entails.

It seems like the Trump admin is determined to re-learn the lessons of “we developed the formalized laws of war because we finally realized that if we do horrible things to the other guy, the other guy can do them too” from first principles.

Of course, with the blood of *other* people.

People say Trump has no war strategy, but his strategy is quite clearly a criminal one of destroying Iran's civilian infrastructure (and killing a bunch of people in the process) unless they capitulate. We -- the United States of America -- are a rogue state and global pariah.
