But despite his policy being, I think, the wrong one, I think he was trying to do it for the right reasons. I think that gets overlooked quite a lot: that presidential executive use authority was not about the power to use the atomic bomb, but the responsibility not to use it if it could be helped.

God’s experiment with Creation was to create beings that were like Him except for a central exception, which is that for us there is a difference between speech and action. For Him they’re the same. We often indulge in the fantasy that this is true for us too.
Yes, writing them feels pointless. But the only pointless thing is inaction.
This site does it all for you. It will find your reps, all you have to do is write the body of the email. It will send it for you.
This has to stop.

An exasperated Dan finally relieved at clearing IronMario for the first time.
THANK YOU AND GOOD FUCKING NIGHT, IRONMARIO!
So even when a company has no intention of doing monstrous things with your content, you tend to get licenses that let them do so if they want - not out of malice, but out of CYA and resource-management.

Tonight, on Fortune Cookie with @protonjon.bsky.social:
Local community of chaos gremlins tries (and fails) to push for an improvised episode of #DiscOnly. Fortunately, the Wheel of Shenanigans took up the slack... to the Glitchmaster's exasperation.

PS: The amount of text space available in the ALT text window is several times longer than what's available in the standard text field, so even long text passages can be pasted there. If you run out of space, break up the screenshot; it's probably too long at that point for just one post anyway.
It's moments like this that send my sides into orbit, simultaneously torn between "It's just going to be one of THOSE streams/events" and "This is why we need specific hazard/warning signs for 'Excessive Hilarity'"
I often get asked if revision of GL is necessary given the increasing frequency of such comparisons. My response has been that if you're falling into a black hole, the last thing you need to spend your limited time on is revising the law of gravity.
What's the federal judge equivalent of a catsplosion?
A Rathalos with wings folded in front, looking rather worried. Caption: CONCERN
We may be approaching [DEEP CONCERN] levels of shenanigans with these games...
Is... is this a cry for help from the devs? Are they okay?
Seeing a lot of news articles explaining that most Americans don’t want the jobs Trump wants to reshore. That doesn’t apply to everyone obviously. There’s lots of demand for high value add manufacturing jobs. But a lot of the push for “manly” jobs is a push for jobs for *other* people to do.
Also on Reddit today, someone thinking that I am apologetic for being a white dude. Nah, friends. I think we all know that being a white dude in the US is pretty great. My sin, if you will, is thinking everyone else should have the same latitude in life that I get just by being a white dude.

The Glitchmaster strikes again in the world of Sly Cooper... a little closer to home, this time...

R.E.P.O. work can be a rollercoaster of shenanigans... especially when dealing with recommissioned colleagues.

Lee Atwater had a pungent and famous quote about how once conservatives could no longer use the n-word they used things like “states’ rights” to invoke the same spirit.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration any more — if it ever was — to say they use DEI as the n-word.
Here’s a problem with saying the connection between vaccines and autism has been “debunked.” If by “debunked” you mean there’s scientific consensus it’s not real, and only freaks and cranks believe it, if your population is indifferent to science and friendly to freaks and cranks, it’s not debunked.
This seems to be a point that could use additional clarification. So here's another example:
There is a general rule that you can destroy your own property at any time for any reason. But that doesn't help you if you destroy records you own in an effort to derail an investigation.
I have an enduring image in my head of the German people (those who were left) standing in the rubble of their country, invaded, occupied, divided, and looking at each other- "hey fritz, you voted for this guy back in the day- how'd that "make Germany great again" work out for us?"
Yeeeeeaaah, the doomerism thing is real bullshit. As a nation we were collectively stupid enough to let him get back into a seat of power, but it's now our responsibility to collectively put as many goddamn tacks onto that seat as we possibly can. Make Power Fucking Painful is the mantra for 2025.
The one thing Threads has that I wish we had here is the "restrict" function, in which people can still read what you post, but all their comments are in a silo where no one else sees them. It's brilliant for the "you aren't evil but you sure are exhausting" category of person who exists online.
this really feels less like an analysis of the pardons and more like reporters finally feeling like they have an excuse to voice their personal dislike for biden. which, fair. but like, be honest about it.
📌 Don't mind me, just rescoping my timeline for potential bookmarks...
After the Turkeys of the Year are presented next weekend, I think I'll do my first ever Inside the Backpack for bluesky. Meanwhile here's a look back at some theme park related ones, including the Permit Princess herself, @alicia.social
In Garland's defense (not that there's much point in it anymore), the underlying goal was to build an airtight case that could survive the inevitable appellate scrutiny.
Unfortunately for all of us, everyone on the anti-conservative side miscalculated... on multiple fronts.
📌 Don't mind me, just passing through...
This hits home for me, as I was a literal trailer park kid when I got accepted to the University of Chicago. HOWEVER, I was also going to one of the best private high schools in the country at the time (on scholarship), so I was a trailer park kid with elite kid camo. I know that this mattered.
