Every morning, start the day,
Riboflavin, PEA. Natto’s cool but makes me sick,
I get migraines really quick.
Acyclovir, modafinil, midodrine’s a wacky pill,
I can’t lie down until it fades, take another NSAID.

Finally, I admit I did manage a few verses. Just for fun, not medical advice! (For advice, check out @patientled.bsky.social and @rthm.bsky.social’s terrific new treatment guide). Please be kind, I'm not a musician or poet. And add your own, if inspired! 9/
Also, I want to remember that Long Covid is the new kid when it comes to disabling, energy-limiting illnesses. Sending solidarity to others with post-viral conditions and especially those with ME/CFS who have suffered longer, with less awareness. May a rising tide lift all our boats. 8/
We deserve more. We deserve clean indoor air, free N95 masks and tests, and a culture of using them. I don’t want to have this awful, life-changing illness, and I don’t want you or your loved ones to have it either. 7/
We need to face the hard truth that Covid isn't over and start preventing infections. There is a mountain of evidence that aside from Long Covid, Covid causes cognitive deficits, derails your immune system, and increases your risk for many serious conditions, like stroke and dementia. 6/
Long Covid is a multi-faceted disabling illness. Anyone can get it, after any Covid infection. We desperately need funding for new trials, better public awareness, education for healthcare workers, and easy access to treatments for patients, plus financial support so we aren't bankrupted. 5/
There is no cure, and treatments are limited. I'm so grateful to all those out there trying to move things forward, doctors, healthcare workers, researchers, and patients themselves who are heroically experimenting, documenting, and sharing info. Shout out to @thesicktimes.org, a must follow! 4/
After 6 years, I can testify that Long Covid royally stinks. My brain feels muddy, my body is poisoned with fatigue. I get migraines from former favorite things (foods, exercise, sun). I have neck and muscle pain, burning legs, my heart races randomly. I get dizzy if I stand too long. 3/
Of course this was fantasy. I don’t have the energy for that. Which is one of the most frustrating and demoralizing parts of Long Covid—the constant, excruciating scarcity. I've learned to pace myself because crashing is worse, but it's a tough way to live. 2/
It’s Long Covid Awareness Day, and my sixth anniversary of being sick from it. My first impulse for commemorating this was to set all the meds and treatments I’ve tried to the tune of We Didn’t Start the Fire, or Tom Lehrer’s The Elements (which uses I Am the Very Model of A Modern Major General).
Thank you, we will try!!
A great resource for Long Covid treatment ideas.
Yay Philly! Thanks for posting this!
Thrilled to get to be part of this!

Thank you!! And nice to hear from a fellow lover of Ovid!
Thank you!!! You are so kind!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
The cover of a new hardback short story edition. Rich red background, darker at top and bottom, brighter in the middle. A gold outline of a sparrow-ish bird flies upwards at center left, with wings spread, trailing abstract gold curlicues from its tail feathers. Block letters at top read: Madeline MiIler Author of the #1 New York Times Bestseller The Song of Achilles. Block letters at bottom read Mestra, A Short Story.
My new short story, MESTRA, comes out as a standalone this September! I rediscovered this myth from Ovid while working on my Persephone novel, and it absolutely electrified me. In case you want to pre-order, thank you from the bottom of this author's heart, links are here! linktr.ee/madeline.mil...
A wonderful, resonant essay from @thesicktimes.org about how we can better listen to anyone going through something catastrophic. "Avoiding the topic feels absurd — like I’m standing in quicksand, and we’re chitchatting over glasses of lemonade as I slowly sink." thesicktimes.org/2025/11/28/y...
Look at those faces! Fabulous
Beautiful and impressive kitties!
You are so right. I may even have gone triple treat, just to be sure I was back in their good graces.
A gorgeous princeling!!
Three long-haired cats face the camera grouped close together on a bed. Far left cat is a brown and black tabby who looks long-suffering. Middle cat is a white and grey tabby with a baby face who is happy to be included. Far right cat is also a brown tabby but with more gray in his coat. He is alert to any motion the photographer may make in the direction of the treats.
I know it’s not Caturday but I was late with the evening treat and found this waiting for me.
Happy Independent Bookstore day! It's always a great day to support indie bookstores, but I'm glad for this chance to celebrate them especially! I am so grateful for all they do for communities, readers, and writers. Support indies with online ordering too--through their websites or bookshop.org
Circe, Achilles, Galatea, and even an obscure short story I wrote long ago.
