Fun fact that lying UK hack journalists won’t tell you because they hate Labour; Boris Johnson did not pass vetting when Theresa May appointed him Foreign Secretary. #VettingFailure

What on earth would happen if this was playing out the other way around? This utterly indefensible.

When Angela Rayner underpaid £40,000 stamp duty on her flat, Richard Tice said it was "morally completely indefensible” and she should immediately resign if she had “any moral decency”.

Now we learn he personally made £91,000 in excess payments by failing to pay the tax his company legally owed

Good. I hope the empty stadiums will be a lesson to FIFA. They have priced global football fans out of their own tournament, and are simultaneously asking them to risk their personal freedom in visiting the USA at the worst point in its history. No thanks.

I completely agree.

Ever since the shock of the Brexit vote I have made a conscious decision to try to avoid echo chambers - I genuinely worry about their impact on democracy. It’s unpalatable to read some people’s views on the world but also essential to know that they exist.

Case in point - I’m blocked from reading the post you were replying to in that thread.

And just in the course of this conversation I’ve received another blocking notification….

It’s not hard to see why people are leaving.

True, although I will block anyone who is abusive, because the moderation is non-existent.

Ultimately with nuclear blocks and blocklists you end up with fewer and fewer people reinforcing their own opinions and then being surprised by real world events and political choices.

Nuclear blocks are fine. Blocklists are utterly dreadful and their malicious use on here is damaging. Threads become unreadable to me because I’m blocked by people I’ve never interacted with.

Pretending other opinions don’t exist is hardly the path to social cohesion, or progression.

I hope you’re right. I won’t ever be going back to X, for the reasons you describe. But the hounding out of too many people from here, and the righteous intolerance, is depressing. The world is becoming more polarised and radicalised, and this site reflects that.

Only one viewpoint is tolerated on Bluesky unfortunately. Anyone genuinely interested in the world - and open to recognising that different people can have different opinions - won’t want to spend time in such an echo chamber.

You seem very keen to misread people. I quoted the article - it’s why my reply began and ended with ‘ ‘ . If you read any of the info beyond the headlines and the online hysteria you’d know that the testing won’t involve genital inspection but cheek swabs. And yes, I do care about women’s sports.

3 weeks ago 2 0 1 0

I’m not going to research it for you - the internet is right there for the taking. But behind each of those 600 awards are many multiples of women denied an opportunity, and girls denied hope. The female sports category was created for a reason, and it’s good to have it back again.

‘by 30 March 2024, over 600 female athletes in more than 400 competitions have lost more than 890 medals in 29 different sports," the report said.’

It’s dreadful ‘journalism’ and a new low for the @theguardian.com in their coverage of this subject (tbf in stark an surprising contrast to yesterday). They should be embarrassed to have published such rubbish.

The mad emperor has triggered chaos he cannot control With no domestic institutions to restrain him, Trump has started a war which will hurt every one of us, all over the world.

"America has no president. It has an emperor. And the emperor is insane."

"It is bitterly ironic that a country which is famed for a constitution of checks-and-balances should have ended up so vulnerable to a leadership personality cult."

Quite agree. But if everyone has a single cheek swab then surely that would eliminate racism, rather than create it?

Human rights experts raise concerns over Olympics transgender women athlete ban Over 100 human rights, sports and scientific groups have criticised the new gender eligibility guidelines as ‘a blunt and discriminatory response’

Indeed. Women having fair sporting opportunities is 'despicable' apparently.

See also this entire article, which manages to make claims of racism too:

A billionaire can get what they want with one donation to a political party. The rest of us must fight for years to get even the most basic rights recognised. Money destroys democracy, more than any other cause. The first step towards a better world is to stop the rich buying political outcomes.
