No, i dont think it translates. Miami is following on the footsteps of N Miami that extended the terms - to hold them in odd yrs and increase turnout. Some people sued, but the City won. The dilemma is that odd years are good but one more years of these scoundrels is not good.

You mean in the City of Miami? Many localities hold elections in odd years and the turnout is very low- as low as only 10%. To move to even years, they have to either extend or shorten a term - there's no other way. Electeds want to extend and constituents want to shorten. That's the conflict.

Today! AFter the County Board of Commissioners police brutalized a resident that sought to speak against the ICE agreement, we're reconvening to mourn the detainee that just died in custody.

If you want to stand on a crate by yourself, speaking to the vast space ahead, preacher-style, you most definitely not need a permit.

why would you need a permit? we haven't needed one for other rallies. But you want something more organized, with politicians and so on.

I don’t care what city or town you live in. If these guys jumped out of an unmarked van and grabbed you on the street, would you just assume they’re ICE or FBI? Would you willingly comply with their orders and get inside the van?

I will, but first you need to organize it and secure speakers or tables, then come up with a flier. Otherwise people wont go. It is also not a good time, people are at home preparing the grill.
