Finished 'Children of Dune' the other day, 2 days before the deadline.
Better than the 2nd, but not as good as the 1st. Still, love the universe - I liked Alia, it's sad what happened to her.

Dune: Messiah is a rather short book, and many parts of it felt too long - do we really need a page of describing the environment?
Enjoyed the overall story though, what's next for the.. Children of Dune..?

Only had to look in the glossary at the back a few times!
This months book is Dune. Finished 3 days early.
It's good, but as I've seen all the films I mostly knew what was going to happen.
The world building is brilliant, the setting, pace, fuedal/ political system and everything that comes with that.
Here's to the next 5 months on Arrakis!

I was playing TFC a lot back then, I think Sept 2003 was when Valve made Steam a requirement to play all their games, swapping from the old WON id/ key, to using Steam id’s.

HL2 came out in Nov 2004. I can’t find if it was possible to pre-order it via Steam tho, but I don’t think you could in Sept 2003, the month Steam launched (leaving beta).
All I remember about Steams launch though is getting it for TFC!
Depending on how you look at it, I finished 1 book or 9 in July 😀
Most of these stories are the bits from the tv show where you say “that wasn’t in the books”, which I liked knowing they’re from the source material.

If we make it that far, Expanse’s portrayal of our future seems a lot more likely than anything positive, unfortunately!
I found out today they’ve started a new series ‘The Mercy of Gods (The Captives War #1)’, I’m looking forward to reading it when it’s out in paperback.
.. what would happen, but didn’t believe I was right with how the threat would be dealt with.
I’m not quite done with the world of ‘The Expanse’ yet, Julys book is the collection of short stories!
And that’s ’The Expanse’ finished!
I absolutely love the entire series, it’s so well written. The world building well thought out making a believable future for mankind.
Some bits in this last book made me think of the Star Trek and Foundation. And I kind of guessed ..

In my head, for ideas. Mostly anyway. Got some notes in various places.. MS Sticky notes, iOS notes, Evernote.
So… to answer your question, I don’t keep them organised :D

I have a list of game ideas as long as both arms, twice. Most of them probably aren’t good enough to reach beyond prototype.
Now I’m also writing, new ideas (or seeds of ideas) keep coming.. a second list of ideas has been formed.
One for games.
One for stories.

I’ve been reading big series the past year or so (Foundation, The Expanse). And got 6 Dune books lined up next.
But I think next year will be the year of stand alones for me!
I do prefer a series though.
I haven’t done much writing the past couple/ few months.. but today I finished another chapter, adding another 550 words last night & tonight.
Slowly getting there..

Last month was a struggle to make sure I read. I ended up finishing book 8 of ‘The Expanse’ a day late! But still in time to start 9 on the 1st June.
I do love this series, book 8 was awesome, it’s gonna be sad when I’ve finished.

Finished book seven of ‘The Expanse’ last night!
It felt like a much slower book than the previous ones, but understandably so - the 30 yr time gap and the set up of the new solar system/ danger needed doing properly.
The entire series is so well thought out and written.

A year ago today I started writing my first book. I’d hoped to finish by Xmas, then by today.
I haven’t, but have done so much more than I thought I’d realistically do and that’s due to the writing group at my local indie bookshop @serenitybookshop.bsky.social

Book six of ‘The Expanse’ (Babylon’s Ashes) read!
The writing for the entire series is so consistently good, everything is well thought out, explained, makes me contemplate the future or the consequences of the events in each book.
Quite different from what I remember of the tv show.
