Knowing absolutely nothing about football, but being aware via mainstream news of lots of recent managerial merry-go-round activity, it seems that 6 1/2 months would be pretty good going.

I will really miss checking here every day Stuart. It’s been fascinating and sometimes quite surprising.
Mentioning LaTeX takes me back to terminals running VAX/VMS in the 1990s when I worked at Plessey Semiconductors. I did not use it myself, but I do remember being impressed by its usefulness and a few minutes of research suggests it is still alive and well today; especially in your sort of world.
Love the poem. There is definitely a hint of Metroland (Sir John Betjeman)
Oh dear..
Sunnier down here
I think @gos75.bsky.social ran over the Brooklyn Bridge the day after you posted this.
Cutting it fine.
Well at least I have heard of Daguerre, unlike the first (surviving) photograph chap from a couple of weeks ago ;-)
Fascinating
Presumably the fans are searching for the string without the hash symbol. The actual hashtag would not match yours (or would it?)
Very much so. The Iron Bridge (at Ironbridge no less) is only 100 feet or so across.
The final commands have been sent to Gaia. This is the last time that the spacecraft will ever hear from its team on Earth. The final commands include those to shut down the spacecraft's communication systems and central computer.
Please don't apologise Richard. Totally unnecessary and inappropriate because this podcast was entertaining, fascinating and educational all at once. What you call nerdiness came across as a genuine passion and it was a really great listen.
Nice bottle, nice size, confusing name, agreed, but can't help thinking that the corporate world should have moved on from one-use plastic bottles of water. Proper glasses that get washed and jugs of tap water should really be the norm.
Actually, even better would be for you all to take your own.
Really troubling stuff. How many outrageous threats like this will it take for the govt to rethink its relationship with the US? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
So good to see Ringo looking so great. Inspirational. #reverseageing
A screenshot from University Challenge, with subtitles on, as the contestants introduce themselves. This young man is saying "I am from Broughton Hackett, near Upton Snodsbury"
Re interesting/unusual English place names, this is from University Challenge on Nov 18th, UCL vs St Andrews, and this is how a member of the St Andrews team introduced himself. (Both places are genuine, in Worcestershire apparently).
I was an early adopter of Twitter, back in the day when you could play with their API and do all sorts of geeky things. Sadly, it has become the truly awful thing it is now, which is so sad and frustrating. I deactivated my account three weeks ago, so in 7 or 8 days it should vanish forever.
I’m sorry Stuart. I’m the stupid one for spoiling your remarkably interesting and of course time sensitive post — I should have pointed out the year being wrong in a private message to you.
(shurely shome mishtake re 1939?)
I play the Tom and Jerry theme in the style of the Russian classics.
It’s been that kind of week.
There used to be exactly that sort of thing on the back of cereal boxes in the 1960s
From the iOS Photos app you can easily add an aide-mémoire, maybe something like "L to R: Jim, Bill, Fred" as a caption (tap the "i" icon) but I don't think you can tag individuals in the way you want to.
This is what Americans think every British town is called. #universitychallenge
Foxes in our back garden playing in the unusually early snow here today.
I think the last few paragraphs of the BBC article quoting Sir Bob sum up the common sense view remarkably well. Ending with: “Colonial tropes', my arse."
Safety AND happiness. Only bollards can deliver this every single day.
