What happened to two of the biggest moves put forward by the Dublin City Taskforce? “The implementation has fallen at the first hurdle, which was government funding,” says Social Democrats TD Gary Gannon.

Last week I spoke with the @dublininquirer.com about why I'm worried about the lack of transparency and clarity on the purpose of the Special Purpose Vehicle. Or where the rest of the 10 Big Moves and the promised €1 Billion in investment has gone: www.dublininquirer.com/what-happene...

Robert Watt set to be paid €280,000 a year to lead Dublin city regeneration body Former Department of Health head expected to be approved by Cabinet on Tuesday

Clarity is urgently needed about what this regeneration body is for.
DCC say its about tackling dereliction.
The Gov say its about implementing all the 10 Big Moves of the Taoiseach's taskforce.
Whatever he is paid, surely we should know what his job is!

The motion requires HGVs to seek permits to operate in parts of the city with progressively higher visibility standards required, similar to what we see in London.

My thoughts are with to the family and loved ones of Johnny Santos.

My speech on @ray.cunningham.green ‘s motion to phase out HGVs with high blind spots in the city centre. I was really happy to see this pass in the council chamber last night.

"Prices fell to an average of €94.20 on the days with the most wind energy while increased to €179.10 when the country relied on imported fossil fuels."

I dunno... I'm starting to think fossil fuels may not be the future after all...

Extension of Luas Green line to Finglas can proceed after High Court cases resolved Extra 4km of line to run from Cabra to north of Finglas village at expected cost of €600m

With the project now greenlit, the Gov must accelerate funding for Luas to Finglas

Plans to stall the project til 2029 are unacceptable. Investing in reliable, affordable & accessible public transport is one of the best ways we can reduce fossil fuel dependency. www.irishtimes.com/crime-law/co...

Who is Péter Magyar: Hungary’s next leader energised voters but is ‘a dark horse’ Ex-government insider turned Orbán critic is authentic and passionate but his proposed policies are short on details

I would love to believe that this will signal a more progressive era for Hungary but that's not clear yet. Magyar says he will be even harsher on migration than Orban and hasn't offered any commitments to a more liberal approach to women's and LGBT+ rights. www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...

Hungarian opposition ousts Viktor Orbán after 16 years in power Péter Magyar’s Tisza party wins election as prime minister concedes defeat, in result likely to reshape ties with EU

Seeing Victor Orbán concede defeat feels like a big moment for Europe - we have seen 16 years of eroding social rights in Europe, rescinding LGBT freedoms, rights for refugees and women and building fossil fuel based alliances with Russia

There is a clear political attempt (looking at no Peadar Toibín's in particular..) to use this energy crisis to attack the very solutions we need: making homes warmer, public transport more accessible and agriculture more sustainable.
We deserve real solutions - not opportunistic scapegoating.

Everyone has the right to protest but this approach is targeting people and communities impacted by the energy crisis - preventing them from getting to hospital appointments, work commitments, fulfilling care responsibilities - instead of targeting the government.

Fuel price protests causing second day of disruption There are delays to public transport in Dublin city and fuel depots in Galway and Limerick have been blocked as fuel price protests cause a second day of disruption around the country.

There is something very bleak about the threat of annihilation of an entire country filtered disproportionately through the lens of the cost of petrol and diesel. The energy crisis is real and serious but so is the threat to our shared humanity.

Happy Easter from Denton! I was thrilled to meet with Hannah Spencer MP this weekend to discuss both of our bye-election campaigns, the role of green policy in addressing cost of living issues, and the importance of electing green voices to fight for our planet.

I’m proud to have worked with ICTU for the past number of years, particularly in combatting narratives of the far right. I support their call for a right to collective bargaining.

It’s important to work with unions to help them deliver good jobs and a sustainable economy for the future.

Grace’s Law: Scramblers to be banned in all public places from Friday Death of Grace Lynch (16) after she was hit by scrambler in Finglas prompted renewed efforts to strengthen regulations

The new law on scramblers is welcome. They are dangerous and hostile. But almost every scrambler on our city streets has been illegal before now yet they are still everywhere. So if the law is to mean anything we need more decisive Gardaí action:

Cyclist (20s) dies following collision with truck in Dublin city centre A man aged in his 20s has died following a collision involving a truck and a cyclist at the junction of Middle Abbey Street and O’Connell Street in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

Horrific.
My thoughts are with the man who was brutally killed on our roads today and all who loved him.

No one should lose their life like this on our streets and we have so much work still to do in Dublin to stop this happening again.

☑️Climate change is real
☑️It's impacting Irish weather
☑️It's costing you money
☑️and it's getting worse year-on-year.

The Climate Change Advisory Council's report "Our Changing Climate 2025" shows us that extreme weather is no longer the exception, it's the new reality.

Michael O'Leary warns of jet fuel supply disruption from May if war in Iran persists The Ryanair CEO said up to 25% of the airline’s jet fuel could be at risk if the war in Iran continues past this month.

Transport (and climate) Minister Darragh O’Brien also reacted to O’Leary’s comments this morning, telling reporters the CEO is someone he “highly regards”.

Is it not problematic that the climate minister holds an outright climate change denier in high regard?

Racism is not inevitable and should not only be taken seriously at the point it inconveniences "the rest of us". Tackling it and promoting integration and inclusion are fundamental to a cohesive society where we can all thrive.

- diversify portrayal of "migrants" in the media to show full range of experiences
- increase Gardaí enforcement of hate crimes and support training of Gardaí
- celebrate the diversity of Ireland in 2026
- roll out anti-racism training for teachers in all our schools

Some things the government must do:
- tackle social media companies who amplify hate speech
- publish the migrant integration strategy and make it ambitious
- resource Local Authorities integration teams
- stop rhetoric (often coming from their own Ministers/reps) that seeks to demonise migrants
