going 15 years into the past and telling my undergrad self that google docs still doesn't have a functional equation editor. my phone has 4x as much processing power as your laptop but you still can't do anything cool on it. and my laptop has 8x as much and can do less than yours

docs needs an external plugin to do citations! and ms office purposefully removes features for the browser versions. Like I realize this is the game and they cook up whatever bullshit they feel like and we have to eat it. Just so dumb.

like google slides is so dog shit but it's basically the only way to do big team-taught classes where you all need to make sure you're teaching from the same version and need them all in one spot so next year's team can see what you did. it doesn't even have an equation editor!

truly don't understand how both the google doc suite and the web version ms office both suck so bad when all like 90% of the people using those things for the last 15 years have wanted to do is share and simultaneously collaborate on their documents with other people using the internet

i think a lot of resources for the former really are mostly geared to someone who wants to get through it so they can take some standardized test or because its a prereq for the class you actually want to take. and that is gonna be boring and opaque on average

i think what opened things up for me was going into stuff that isnt about calculus or stats. stuff like information theory, graph theory, group theory, basically just the intro dover book level. none of that really depends on stuff you learned in high school, its all from scratch & self-contained
