I'm guessing there will be a strongly-worded letter waving their finger in his face and making him pinky-swear to do better?

You got Dansby out, which is easy to do. But with 1B open, winning run on 3rd and less than 2 out, and Busch on-deck, why do you pitch to the best contact hitter on the team?

Not a lawyer either but your logic tracks. Heck, they’re ruining our natural areas, that’s harming us as well. We should be able to sue for that as well.

I keep saying this: all those smarmy DOGE Boys, they watched “Office Space” too much. And they decided they’re smart enough to run the main characters rounding scam, but on OUR Social Security. And Donnie gets a cut. Plus all those “fines” on colleges and tariff revenue. It’s all gone.

I would have tapped Millennials as the group to take a right turn: all the “once in a lifetime disasters”, recessions, losing all the “promises”. I felt the second we got anything we trade & compromise values to keep it and follow anyone who said they’d help us.

Wagering on wars, that's beyond depraved, but a great way for those in the Admin to grift. All this recent obsession with gambling and playing the market makes me think we're living in an alternate reality of the movie "The Last Boy Scout".

They want to eliminate Ecosystems research.
Cut Natural Hazards funding by a third.
Cut Water Resources funding by a fifth.

And if you think they might care about the finding and digging things out of the ground part of geology, apparently not since they want to cut Core Science Systems by 43%.

Despite Apocalyptic Warnings, California Fast Food Wage Hike Didn’t Kill Jobs UC Berkeley study finds employment held steady — and only pennies were added to menu prices.

A new report from the University of California shows that the state's decision to raise the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hr didn’t hurt jobs, or raise prices much.

Data from over 2,000 restaurants shows that the $20/hr minimum wage didn’t reduce employment.

When people are like, "Where is the money for X going to come from?" I'm like, the police budget. The money you are looking for is in the police budget. It's in police contracts (many of which mandate an annual increase--PVD's does) & police pensions, but it's also in things like the supply budget

Exactly what Kate said.

Whenever someone asks me where the Mayor should get the $150 million more funds for NYC public libraries, the answer is the cops. Period.

I will pull a Theo Epstein after Game 7 if the US gets that level of turnout to oust our own fascists. Just gotta do it TWICE: 2026 and 2028.

The other week I was criticizing Dems like Porter & Steyer for running vanity campaigns that could turn CA red.

Makes you wonder what they knew (even when it was all rumor before the formal story broke) that made them think they should stay in.

I agree. I think too many guys today that would have had good careers are overlooked, pigeonholed, and ignored/not developed based on similar preconceptions Moneyball wanted to get passed.

Or were developed wrong (i.e. hit for mower power instead of accept singles & doubles)

Yeah I'm kinda shocked (and skeptical) about using just this lens right now. I would suspect that if you're that low in generating 75 MPH+ bat speed, you're gonna really struggle in today's game, esp. as you age.

Trying to find a measure of contact on pitches 95 MPH+

**BUT** this is one perspective, one metric that shows why the #Cubs may struggle to handle high velocity. There are other metrics that may paint a more complete picture.

Most of the #Cubs core roster is well below MLB AVG in Fast Swing Rate, so they'll struggle with high velo including key cogs like PCA, Bregman, Swanson, Happ, and Busch.

And honestly shocked to see Nico so low at this.

Digging a little deeper, we see the following player averages 2023-2026. Two of the better players (above MLB avg) are no longer #Cubs and there are only THREE on the roster who consistently generate bat speed to catch high velo pitching...

a group of men standing next to each other with the words `` you trying to say jesus christ can t hit a curve ball '' ALT: a group of men standing next to each other with the words `` you trying to say jesus christ can t hit a curve ball ''

According to @fangraphs.com, the #Cubs Fast Swing rate (% of all swings that reach 75 MPH) the Cubs have been 23/30, 21st, 29th, and 29th 2023-2026.

For all their bragging about hitting analytics, this team (which is the same 23-26) can't handle high velo pitching.

One of the ways news media often fail us is by giving us the microscopic rather than the telescopic view. Everything I mention in this essay is well-documented, but the dots are mostly not connected to make visible this death by a thousand cuts our country is undergoing.

I do recall they had bullpen issues to start the year, just like now. Offense was good because PCA looked like the 2nd coming of Mike Trout and Tucker was hot. But they really didn't hit a stride until mid-May. Recall, they climbed into 1st for a bit, before collapsing late (when PCA sucked)

Running the same team out there over and over expecting a different result. They were literally this bad and in the same ways in 24 and 25 and now 26.

Yeah new MQ is not even fun bad science; it’s just like a series of vignettes with one actor recounting an encounter, an AI ‘ed monster, and even AI’ed scenery and transition shots. No investigating; Finding Bigfoot did more.

If you need more, let me know!

As a cryptid consumer, I would agree. After that most things veered into conspiracy theory/supernatural after that.

Old MonsterQuest is good; new MonsterQuest is crap and filled with AI. Avoid it.

If you want cheap mockumentary horror/scares, look up "Los Tapes" for laughs.

I've got tons of books I can rec on this subject as well. Have you showed them Darren Naish's blog or other stuff?
