Covid cautious people: how many of you have been abandoned by a partner over masking?

Thank you.
The same week I have to fight to keep the BASIC covid precautions in my workplace I test positive for Covid. I have seen staff members unmasked tell me to my fave how sick they are.
And now here I am. 6 days before my child's birthday and this is likely going to be her present.

@tvdsb.bsky.social talks a lot about equity and inclusion while at the same time banning students and teachers from using air quality monitors, opening windows and removing or refusing to service HEPA filters for vulnerable students and staff. #CovidIsAirborne #onted #TVDSB
My job is getting more difficult to navigate. Constantly have to fight for basic safety measures I am entitled to. #TVDSB #onted #onpoli
Right?! It kills me that they call US sheep.
Been learning a lot about cults and how they condition people to ignore their instincts and become true believers and I feel like the same psychology is at work on a much larger scale when it comes to Covid. So much evidence as to how dangerous it is but nobody wants to see past their conditioning.
tldr: Kids are getting sick at unprecedented rates because covid is damaging their immune systems, while governments fail to take the necessary steps to reduce viral infections by making indoor spaces safer.
That's always useful!
Thank you!
Awesome thanks!
Definitely. It's really difficult being the thing they project their own guilt onto
Isn't it the funnest right now? *Heavy sarcasm*
That's abhorrent. I wish I could afford to leave, I really do. It's awful.
They are very rare. I am the only masked teacher at my school and have not exactly been embraced by the staff and students. It's hard but it's all we can do. Thanks for replying!
The silence around Long Covid is deafening because speaking up requires
- Fighting waves of misinformation to understand your condition
- Accepting an incurable illness as your new reality
- Risking relationships, income & facing stigma, all for little hope of support.
Most simply suffer quietly.
There are so many ways that businesses and other places could ensure that we are still able to be a part of society in a meaningful way but they would rather just cosplay 2019 and forget we exist. It's sad and frustrating.
I know of a small theatre in Kitchener, however that IS doing covid cautious performances so it CAN be done. Grocery stores could have continued vulnerable shopping times where masks are required.
The Stratford festival told me the same thing when I emailed them asking them to consider one performance a month where masks are required. They said it wouldn't make them enough $ to do that despite a very comprehensive diability policy.
When I emailed them about the policy, I was told that "I could ask to speak to a manager if it bothered me" thus putting the burden on those who can least afford it. They also said masked showings were not "profitable".
One of the most frustrating parts of this pandemic are the businesses that could choose to be inclusive but have decided it's not profitable. Cineplex not only refused to have masked movie times, but began demanding people remove masks "for security purposes".
Hello!
Thank you!
I am in Canada! It didn't quite fit my face as well as the vitacore 99 but I know so many others who swear by it
Thank you!
I have an eight year old! It's really hard teaching and having a child in school right now
Same! I don't want any of that in my house!
That's amazing! What an awesome thing to do for you!
Thank you!
Nice to meet you! I am grateful to see other teachers who care and are trying. I am the only teacher masking at my school and my admin have made things difficult for me
