The Trump/RFK Jr. alliance is built on xenophobia and eugenics.

New @nbcnews.com poll:
33% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the Iran war.
67% disapprove.
A majority “strongly disapprove.”

"The University of California system, the California State system, the City University of New York — these are the institutions actually educating America’s workforce, actually moving first-generation students into the middle class, actually delivering on higher education’s democratic promise."
Nikki Laurenzo @NikkiLaurenzo 🚨🚨 NEWS: just received this statement from senior staff of California’s 14th Congressional District and Eric Swalwell for Governor 2026 ⬇️ “As leaders of teams working for Eric Swalwell, we’re horrified by the recent reporting in the San Francisco Chronicle and by CNN. We stand with our former colleague, and the other women who have come forward. We believe you should stand with them, too. The behavior detailed in these reports is abhorrent, beneath the dignity of those serving in public office and betrays the trust of all Californians. We also understand that we lead teams who need guidance and stability now, more than ever. We are focused on supporting our colleagues during this challenging time. Any decision of staff members to remain in their roles in the interim should not be viewed as support for Eric Swalwell. We recognize that not everyone — in particular our junior staff — can immediately forfeit their income and benefits without significant personal risk or consequence. Our responsibility now is to them. We, more than he, understand that we have obligations to the people we lead and to the constituents of California’s 14th Congressional District. Those of us that remain on staff do so for the sole purpose of ensuring that as many of those obligations are fulfilled as possible.” Last edited 5:12 PM · Apr 11, 2026 ·Twitter for iPhone

I too have written about white conservatives in southern state legislatures rushing through bullshit changes to the law just to thwart the advancement of literally one black man, but I'm a historian who writes about the Jim Crow era South and not a reporter discussing current fucking events there.
My experience exactly! The real work begins once the book is published.
Interested to learn that No Kings protests are, according to national poll, far more popular than any American politician — which may have implications for American politicians.
This is a video of my speech at No Kings #3, 3/28, Cincinnati

I wonder if there was some sort of reason the Founders routed the war power through Congress rather than the whim of one person. Probably not.
If Congress doesn't impeach this guy they're basically abolishing themselves
Le sigh. I don’t think you need a PhD to do this work. But people do need some training and experience! Because, as your example shows, they otherwise take shortcuts that don’t exist or make assumptions that yield bad results.
I agree 💯 and find this particularly terrifying/frustrating/problematic re the increasing number of law profs who submit “empirical” scholarship, which law students generally have no formal training to review. Many of those studies don’t even go through IRB let alone rely on valid/reliable methods.

Gorsuch to the SG (federal government): I wouldn't rely on Wong Kim Ark (case recognizing birthright citizenship) if I were you.
There are at least 5 votes against the federal government. (Whew.) Question if there's more than 1 for them. (Even 1 is appalling.)
Congrats!
Thanks to a FOIA lawsuit from @deportationdata.org, Minnesota is getting its first credible numbers on arrests during the federal government's surge here this winter. About 3,800 Minnesota residents were arrested. Most from Latin America (only 106 from Somalia). (1)
One lesson from Italian history: the lawyers and law professors who are still celebrated to this day are those who stood up to fascism, putting their reputation and career on the line; not the ones who hid behind supposed academic collegiality & so contributed to legitimise those supporting fascism
Next Saturday, March 28th, I will join millions of Americans taking part in No Kings protests throughout the country. I hope you will join in. Everything is at stake.

Been there! Glad it’s over (hope so).

Terrifying numbers in latest annual survey of federal workers from @ourpublicservice.bsky.social.
For example, DoD workers' trust in Hegseth is in the toilet.
Only 11.5% of Army employees say their dept's political leaders "maintain high levels of integrity." Similar numbers for Navy, Air Force
One thing that AI evangelists seem to assume, particularly legal AI evangelists assume, is that the thinking and analysis is quick, and the writing is just tedious busywork that slows us down.
But the writing IS the thinking and analysis. You work out the thinking and analysis by writing it down.
Corey! I’m so very sorry for your loss 🌈
