I could do it, but I might run into cousins instead! 🤙🏻

I create this in Financial Cents. Link to the questionnaire in Cognito (generic) is its own “task” in the prep “project”. Then each document gets its own client task. Automated reminder emails update as they check off (or you do) each task. Looking to automate the initial list w/Stanford Tax maybe.

Is there room for neurodivergent minds in accounting?

Coming soon: a community for neurodivergent accountants—a space where we can connect, share strategies, and support each other without masking or explaining.

The HHS is cutting funds to help LGBTQ youth callers to the National Suicide Hotline. National organizations like @trevorproject.bsky.social will be filling this need.

Please consider supporting them so these kids have a resource in their darkest days.

My staff laugh at me because I color code each status…sounds like we do the same thing but mine’s on the screen :)

Ugh good thing you caught this! We do a recap at the beg of March for entities and beg of April for 1040s. This gives us time to fix/file. We look at the client list vs pm status vs our e-filing system. We catch one or two this way every year. Humans=human error unfortunately.

We (firm-wide) have 69 not filed. Realistically there are about 20 to be completed and 30 to extend, the rest are already completed and waiting on signature forms. Not where I wanted to be but also lost one of my prep staff 3/13 so there’s that 😳. This is do-able, but only because we schedule.💪🏻🤓

Whyyyyyyy would you do this to us? Now I’m back in 2005 singing this with my kids. And itsy bitsy spider. And you are my sunshine. 🥹

My knowledge base is a victim of my geography. I have gaps related to community property and disaster provisions in the tax code, because I live in MA and we rarely deal with either. Luckily I have met great people through the bad app who are experts in these areas!

I have reached the point in tax season where “checking in” (somewhat irrationally) infuriates me esp since we provide a very easy way for clients to self-monitor this, so I reply with memes and laugh instead.

There was a popup this morning about this, I would go in their help site to see more info. Hadn’t happened to me yet but I’m expecting it…gotta love software updates.

I’ve reached the point in tax season where every email notification brings my *body anxiety. But also I have reached a point in my life/career where my *brain is like “idgaf, bring it!” So there’s that fun dichotomy 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️ #TaxBS

Local library maybe?

Ashley I hate giving random unsolicited advice but the number of times I have heard this kind of acceleration being caused by an undiagnosed UTI is alarming enough to be “that person”. I’m sorry you and your Auntie are going through this.

We are “Seasoned”. You know, like, many tax seasons, seasoned 😁🤓🤣

This was my first conversation like this with a complete stranger, and it was jarring. It also makes me even more committed to overtly stating publicly that we DO value each and every human and absolutely won’t work with people who don’t. BRB, time to update the signage, website and socials…

Yes I’m in a well-educated/fairly affluent town in a blue blue state. 😡

My heart is broken (for him) and I am fucking furious (at the world) that a prospect today felt he needed to confirm that his same-sex marriage wouldn’t be a problem for me if we were to work together. His body language very visibly relaxed at my answer. This is where we’re at, people. #TaxBS 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

I did this for everyone this year - added it as a task in their doc request complete with video instructions and explanation of how and why. I would say about 70% have followed through, the rest chose not to. So far…

Or…hear me out…schedule them! And make it clear what is missing in a reminder email every 2 days that states they will be extended X number of days after their scheduled date if docs not complete. *ducks to avoid the stapler Brian just threw*

Did NOT have the college (7.5 hours north of Boston area, where we live) cancelling the shuttle bus we rely on to get my kid home and back on breaks, on my tax season bingo card. Because why not? 3/14-3/23 is perfect for a vacation in the Adirondacks.🤷🏼‍♀️😳😡 #taxbs

I found that billing up front and using clear language in the engagement letters helpful with the nonpayment issue.

Absolutely true!

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

I think you know the answer to that, Adam 😁

1 year ago 2 0 0 0

Nope, we will do a change order or up the price if there’s significant change. Admittedly I need to get better at doing this but it’s in the eng letter and doesn’t actually happen very often.
