I can't get past the absurdity of the claims that these are being broadcast to the summit. The idea of Macron flipping through his hotel TV and stumbling across the downtown Calgary channel thinking he'd found TSN is kinda funny though.

This is true. But why did people forget about the importance of vaccinations? Another negative impact of COVID.

This... It seems to me the government before the Liberals are the ones who stopped building affordable houses and low-income rental units, so what we are experiencing right now is not all on the Liberals.

Addressing this to fellow Australians but it applies to everyone: LCSH and LCNAF are not library law. Their use is entirely optional. We can choose otherwise. We should choose better.

This is going to kill many public libraries, especially in rural areas. If you use a public library, you will be impacted. #imls is a dust mote in the federal budget. It also provides things like internet at your local library so people can apply for jobs and kids can do homework.

LOVE to see CBC doubling down on its commitment to local news. One of the most vital roles our public broadcaster plays imo!!!

Lots of jobs here too:

Martin Sostre (1923–2015) was a politicized prisoner and jailhouse lawyer who eventually identified as a revolutionary anarchist and laid the foundation for contemporary Black anarchism. He believed it was necessary to dismantle both the prison and the state. (1/3)

We need good schoolhouse rock type videos, reels, TikTok’s explaining in plan language what an algorithm is. What different types of AI are. What bots are. These terms are being used broadly by people who have no idea what they are. We need remedial education for the general public!

This attitude (of mine) will lead some to say I'm self silo-ing or creating a bubble or whatever. Maybe. Maybe sometimes it's appropriate because there are lines good people refuse to cross on basic principle. A site run by someone saying Canada needs its own DOGE is a fucking bright line for me.

Occasionally The Hub will feature smart commentary by smart guest posters. I've always had trouble engaging/reading, precisely because it's run by someone who often enough shows his colours as a dangerous right-wing ideologue.

Arrest a librarian? Georgia Senators to consider bill to remove 'harmful materials' Georgia Senate Bill 74 would remove librarians' protections against a state law about giving 'harmful materials' to minors. Here's what we know.

We've reached "arrest the librarians" level of authoritarianism.

Wealthy business people and corporations avoided all or most taxes. Tesla/Musk paid 0$ in taxes. As did Apple.

The people who can afford the ticket won't pay taxes, but will leech off all benefits and services. It's a detriment to America.

If every person who thinks their vote won't change anything votes, it will change EVERYTHING!!
Workers, you get 3 hours off to vote, grab a coffee and go vote.
On ODSP, all parties BUT Doug Ford will DOUBLE your assistance, grab a friend or two and go vote!
Need a doctor, go vote. Bring I.D.

The way #UCalgary admin behaved towards students who have every right to take up space on their own campus was disgraceful. I said it then and I'll say it again now, Ed McCauley needs to apologize and take accountability.
