Fred from Scooby-Doo unmasking the bad guy at the end of a mystery, in two frames.
First frame:
Left side: a tied up man in a white featureless mask with eye holes. The caption over him in impact font reads, "SOMETHING I USED TO LOVE SUCKS NOW"
Right side of frame, Fred has his hand on the mask, about to pull it off. The caption on him reads, "LET'S SEE WHO'S BEHIND THIS."
Second frame:
The unmasked bad guy has a pencil thin curling mustache, a pointy nose, and dark hair, with a widow's peak.
The caption on him reads, "PRIVATE EQUITY"

My most liberal idpol radlib take is that I think it's pretty bad that
right wing forces are actively intervening on behalf of the Klan with the full weight of the state legal apparatus

Matt Walsh @MattWalshBlog

A weird thing is that whenever I post criticism of Al, the majority of the people agreeing with me seem to be leftists. It's pretty much the only position I hold that seems to be more popular with the left than the right. It should be the opposite. My whole point about Al (especially Al in creative fields) is that it isn't human, it doesn't have a soul, and we cannot surrender our society to an unhuman soulless algorithm even if it makes our lives easier in some ways. It's very strange that an argument predicated on the existence of the soul resonates with the left while conservatives tend to scoff at it.

I’m getting to really dig through Shadowdark on my flights home. There’s a lot of stuff I think will be fun to play with here. Might indulge in a little lonely-fun worldbuilding, which isn’t something I do for TTRPGs much these days.

Let’s just acknowledge that this kind of attack is foundationally antisemitic at its core

So many of us are now textual Case Pollards, physically averse to pre-digested, mass extruded machine verbiage just as William Gibson's Pattern Recognition protagonist was made physically sick by fashion and brands.

When small minded "pastors" talk about taking away the right for women to vote and you see a room full of smart, capable women overseeing Artemis's mission to orbit the moon, you realize how irrelevant these podcaster theobros are. There is a woman orbiting space right now without their permission, which no one needs to ask for. Keep on.

Young adult happiness is falling. Percent of young people who are pretty or very happy has dropped from 88% to 76% over the last 15 years after having held fairly steady between 1980 and 2010

Young adult happiness is falling. Percent of young people who are pretty or very happy has dropped from 88% to 76% over the last 15 years after having held fairly steady between 1980 and 2010

My hottest “I have no data to back this up” take is that phones aren’t making young people less happy. What’s making them less happy is living in a world where everyone is having their reality defined by recommendation algorithms that can only care about whether something keeps you watching.

Why am I both absolutely shocked and completely unsurprised that this occurred in 2026. I’m sure there are folk out there who won’t be happy till they can burn “witches” again

If your Kickstarter video/image is AI, I won't back it.
If your book has an AI cover, I won't read it.
If you're a public supporter of AI use for creative work, I will unfollow you.
I cannot stress enough how offensive I find AI use in the arts. It is outright theft, it is lazy, it is gross.

A photo of the Pike Place starbucks in Seattle Washington

We, the partners at Pike Place #301, are excited to announce our intent to unionize with Starbucks Workers United. As partners of the first Starbucks, we’ve decided to form a union to uphold the core values of our company and the Pike Place Market: fair and equal treatment, respect, and dignity for every single partner who makes this store so special. Thousands of partners around the country are working together to fight for a better workplace, and we look forward to joining them. Starbucks as a company was built on the core pillars of belonging, courage, and joy. Sadly, under your leadership – in our store and so many others – Starbucks has lost its way and veered from the core values that defined us.

Store partners are the most important part of the Starbucks experience. We open the stores every morning and close them every night. We greet customers, make the coffee, clean up the spills, and remember our regulars’ names and favorite orders. But beneath the veneer of the excellent experience we craft for visitors every day, partners do not feel a sense of belonging and joy – unequal treatment is the norm, not the exception. When we speak up, that courage is punished, not rewarded. That has been most evident with Starbucks dispatching two national labor relations personnel to our store to surveil partners after the company heard we were discussing unionization, raising tension in the store that can be felt by both workers and customers.

The market's founding gave us clear directions: "It is for you to defend, to protect and to uphold, and it is for you to see that those who occupy it treat you fairly; that no extortion be permitted and that the purpose for which it was created be religiously adhered to." The path to our union may be challenging, but we know this: We are better working together as a team, we have each others’ backs, and we respect everyone’s right to make their own choice. We call on Starbucks to live up to the core values of courage, joy, and be…

Today, the "original" Starbucks at Pike Place Market in Seattle, is announcing they're organizing their union. ✊

A drawing titled "Wild Rabbit vs. Easter Bunny". On the left, there's a wild cottontail bunny sitting down looking alert. On the right, there's a cartoonish Easter Bunny wearing a little polkadot vest and standing next to some colorful eggs. The wild bunny is labeled "Eyes on the sides of the head to watch for predators." and the Easter Bunny "Forward-facing eyes to hunt for meat." Wild bunny: "Active all year." Easter Bunny: "Only active in Spring - otherwise in diapause as a cyst?" Wild bunny: "Walks on four legs." Easter Bunny: "Unusual bipedal stance." Wild bunny: "Plain brown and white fur." Easter Bunny: "Distinctive vest-like markings." Wild bunny: "Gives birth to live young." Easter Bunny: "Steals and redistributes eggs; parasitic reproductive strategy?"

It is weird as fuck to me when I see a Delta Green AP that’s fully in goofy/gonzo mode. I mean, I’m okay with Roger Cumstone for some reason, but when it’s the whole group including the Handler, I feel like folks just didn’t understand the assignment.
