The basic challenge with discussing Sarah Isgur is that she's just not interesting. She is a Supreme Court fangirl who makes money by praising conservative justices in public. There are lots of conservative lawyers like her, and the next time one of them says anything insightful will be the first.

For U.S. medical researchers, shrinking labs and bare budgets are the new reality The Trump administration has slashed the number of grants from the National Institutes of Health, with far fewer focused on women, cancer and mental health.

Very good (if tragic) story from the Washington Post

Our goal should be to use language that is clear, descriptive, legible to the public, humanizing, and respectful.

Without weighing in on specific terms, I reject the idea that we can’t achieve all of those objectives at once.

We have a serious problem with appellate courts not having district courts' backs on things like fact-intensive injunctions.

The Trump administration literally lied about the need for ballroom construction, and the appeals court is saying we like to be lied to.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) funds over 300,000 researchers at more than 2,500 institutions across all 50 U.S. states, supporting roughly 390,863 jobs and driving $94
billion in economic activity. I am one of them and am thankful to all who pay the taxes that support this enterprise 🧪

Trying to explain St Augustine to the pope, the former head of the Augustinian order, who wrote his doctoral thesis on Augustine, on his way back from celebrating mass at the Basilica of St Augustine in Annaba, Algeria, overlooking the site where Augustine lived is peak Adult Catholic Convert.

I’ve read Augustine, I’m familiar with just war theory, but I’m also familiar with the other parts of Augustine’s legacy, on how Christianity’s main concern is the kingdom of heaven rather than earthly glory and dominion

DoorDash’s #1 policy goal is ensuring Dashers remain contractors, not employees, and thus ineligible for benefits.

Not great, then, to have their hand-picked spokesperson talking to the president and a national audience about how she needs insurance.

Seems like DoorDash thought backing “no tax on tips” would be a feel-good way to build credibility with Trump and show support for Dashers, without impacting their revenue.

Instead they wound up spotlighting a painful example of how the gig economy fails their workers.

In this clip Vance also says it’s the president’s job to “dictate public policy.” Remarkable word choice.

On a writing level —

The “qua” construction adds nothing, it’s a gratuitous turn of phrase meant to make him sound smart while obscuring meaning.

Evangelical Americans know the bargain they’ve struck and are prepared to accept much more than blasphemy in exchange for political power.

Highly recommend Tim Alberta’s “The Kingdom, the Power, the Glory,” which makes this relationship crystal clear.

this is exactly why I get so annoyed by people who say “oh I live in a blue state, it doesn’t matter who I vote for so I’ll protest vote for the Green Party”

What I like best about the Artemis II photos is that it was taken by actual humans. An actual person had to frame it and manually adjust settings. It's their own artistic rendition of what they thought looked best at the time, something no probe, rover or unmanned spacecraft can take. it's art
