Three years into the Generative AI era, cheating is rising in schools and we have to be honest about it. Neither techno-utopians nor blue-book nostalgists have useful answers. Here's what we're actually trying at SLA — and why it feels so fragile right now.

As someone who cannot fathom teaching without the help of Google Classroom I feel the need to point put that GC is not actually one of the LMS systems mentioned in this article.
I’m no fan of Elizabeth May but she’s educating us on proposed projects

Hey, welcome to Asia. I'm in Bangkok. Maybe we'll cross paths again at some point.
Just launched my book to help #teachers use #Gemini #AI, so please take a look and see how it can help you save time, get a better understanding of what AI can and can't do! #EDUSky

Graphic full of data illustrating the inefficiencies of cars
A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, and most of the energy that does, moves the car, not the people.
Sound efficient?

Padlet is testing its own collection of AI assistance tools for teachers, called Padlet TA. It’s in beta at ta.padlet.com, free to use, and doesn’t require a login.
Hey #EduSky I am running a 1 hr workshop for a range of teachers tomorrow on 3D Printing/TinkerCad and want to share some examples of how 3d printing could be used to enrich curriculum in different subjects. Anyone know of some good examples or resources I could share?
PBL that is messy and uncertain may not be the best for meeting our current standards oriented goals, but I suspect that it could help kids learn other stuff that is not in the curriculum and might in the end be more uesful when they are forced to confront uncertainty in the future. #EduSky
I think it depends on the goal of the PBL. In particular I am thinking a lot about how school should be preparing students for the complex, uncertain world that they will graduate into. If PBL is too structured and scaffolded then it reinforces the compliance oriented, teacher knows best paradigm.
Hey @matthewabel.bsky.social I think it is possible to have both PBL and skill building. The strength of PBL is that it shifts the locus of control to the students, which I think is more and more important these days. A good PBL class should provide scaffolds to support skill building. #EduSky

I don't. Just screencast instructions.
Wow. The ability of AI to persuade is scary.
I pay for www.screencastify.com because it is awesome. I can record my screen while demonstrating a skill and immediately get a URL to share the video. Also 1 click to upload to YouTube. Lots of other cool features I still need to try. #LateChat #EduSkyChat

A3. Great colleagues and awesome students. Most days don't really feel like work. #eduskychat
Agreed.
A1. When you live overseas breaks often involve flying. For me the transition is that moment when I have cleared security and have nothing to do but hang out and look forward to seeing family again. #eduskychat
