It seems that this is all just cheap excuses to hide the fact that people like to be assholes to people with different views, and refuse to even see what those views are. Bullying comes first before any attempts to build bridges, right?

That seems extremely lacking in self awareness. “We don’t like people who refuse to change their worldview so we will refuse to change our worldview, insult and attack people, make assumptions about people….”

Why are people

People don’t seem to have any interest in talking to people and getting to know the people they hate so much. They just want to call others trolls, make trailer trash references or other insults.

Then I get replies like this, where people are just flat out not willing to listen or talk, they’d rather speak from ignorance about people they don’t know instead of talk to people and risk losing the hatered of others.

I came to chat, but I get called a conservative troll. Some people are just desperate for a villain i guess.

I've been trying the same from the other side, but the mere suspicion of disagreement is enough to get you a stealth block at best, harassed at worst, but most of the time just "lol no, why should we talk to people who are different than us" from the self proclaimed most tolerant people in the room.

Because you lose nothing by being a decent person and treating others the way you would have them treat you.

Especially when others are willing to converse peacefully, you being unwilling to do so speaks volumes.

The only thing I've seen is rage, attacks, self-shaving, self-isolation, and self expatriation by people on the left. I've been trying to talk to people but so far I've had none that have any interest in talking in a civil manner to someone who is different than them.
